Would be a tough look for us to re-sign Mike and then trade Favs because of budget cuts when he chose to come here (who knows what kind of offers he had).
The money issue gets fairly ugly... basically if we don't make the finals or get close I don't see us bringing back Mike and Bojan. 45M in tax next year is one thing... the repeater tax the following year would be baaaadddd. Maybe you can move that last year of Bogey and keep it together for one more year after this one.
I like Bojan... the issues are two fold with him though... defense is gonna be dicey in some situations and the ball stopping/decisiveness issues drive me a little crazy. I have a hard time finding the guy who would be an upgrade over him though. His defense has been mostly fine this year... if he isn't making shots he's a negative on the court for sure. He's been up and down but is close to his prior year averages... I just think we all remember early season Bogey from last year and I'm not sure we are going to get that guy for a sustained period this year. We will see.
I still think the Jazz find a way to get under the salary cap this year. Likely by dropping Harrison. We also need to realize that there will be a new CBA in place before we would have to pay the repeater tax, even if we couldn't get under it this year. I think we lose Favors after next year, perhaps Ingles too (I could see him retiring after 2 championships.) Resigning Conley on a discount is valuable to the Jazz for other reasons outside of his value as a player.
Smith isn't just about "rehabbing" the Jazz. I think he has plans for "rehabbing" the image of the state as well. A championship level NBA team is helpful for that.
