Coronavirus

A study yesterday in the New England Journal of Medicine from long-COVID researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis shows the risk of long COVID has decreased over time, most likely due to the impact of vaccination.

"We had a hunch that things have changed during the pandemic after the initial couple years, which were brutal," said Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, senior author of the study, in an interview. "But a hunch is not data. This study now shows COVID is dynamic, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much vaccines made a dent in preventing long COVID."

In decomposition analyses, researchers found that 28.11% (95% CI, 25.57% to 30.50%) of the decrease in long COVID incidence was attributable to variant strain-related effects and that 71.89% (95% CI, 69.50% to 74.43%) was attributable to COVID-19 vaccines.

"The lion's share of the reduction is attributed to vaccination, with a 30% reduction to viral characteristics over time," said Al-Aly.

I got the covid shot 3 times (4 shots total because the first time you had to get it twice) and still feel quite good about the decision. Still have never had covid so far as I know and have simply been healthier than usual over the last 5 or so years.
I usually get sick in the winter a handful of times. Usually nothing major and I usually have a stuffy nose from the first time I get sick until spring. But honestly I haven't even been getting my usual winter ailments over the last few years.
Been nice. I get the flu vaccine every year as well.

Agreed and same. I may like trash for day, but better than being sick for a week. Too much to do.

I personally know a LOT of people who have tested positive for COVID in the last month after none for almost a year. Weird.
I think a new strain is on the move. We have had a spike at work as well. Currently have like 8 people out of 180 that are out with Covid. Not a huge percentage but at this location before June this year they had reported maybe 1 case per year for the last 2-3 years. Now we have 8 all at once.

Ya my daughter is doing an encanto play this week (today is the performance. Can't wait. Leaving work an hour early to go watch) and when I dropped her off the first day there was a notice of a bunch of kids testing positive for covid and recommending kids families to be careful

So ya, there must be a new strain or something going around

Look the conspiracy theorists have already confirmed that Dr. Fauci, dressed like Dr. Nefario, and working with a cabal of child-blood drinking Democrat leaders trafficked children to drink their blood and use them to develop the virus to try to do something scary and bad. They get kind of vague and rambly when you get into the details like, you know, why and things like that. But it happened! You bet your sweet tight *** on that one buddy!
