Unfortunatelly, for Estonia the largest island Saaremaa has the record for most infected. Due to the game with Italian volleyball team and an alcohol related trade show most of the island and our territory got a pretty high spike. Saaremaa island is also now on a separate lockdown from the mainland of Estonia.

Also, can somebody clarify - is it true, that the worldometers.info belongs to a Chinese company? If the traffic of that website is as high as it is - they enjoy a quite nice flow of money thanks to ads on that site.

The main island in China (Hainan population 9.2 million) has had cases but they currently do not and have not had a new case for over a month. That's where I was living for most of this. They also have a bunch of other smaller islands that haven't had any cases ever.

I don't really know about other places.

I was talking about the virus in isolation, in the air, on a surface, etc.

In case you didn't know, the virus itself has a protein and a fat component to it. The protein is protected by a thin layer of fat and that fat melts under approx. 25-27 degrees celsius or higher.

So if the virus is say floating in the air, if the air is hotter than 25-27 degree celcius, the layer of fat will melt exposing the protein which will dissipate without an organism to hold on to.

That may explain why this disease is more prominent in colder climate vs hotter climate.

One of the national-level components of this crisis, in the United States, which I believe inevitably leads many to realize how Trump's leadership has left so much to be desired, (in addition to simply pointing out Trump's crazy statements, and yo-yo-like response at times, which @The Thriller has pointed out), is that, on a daily basis, Americans are able to contrast Trump with the leadership qualities and briefings of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Watching Cuomo's daily briefings has even generated the "pipe dream" of wishing he were the Democratic nominee in November. It won't happen, and for that matter, Biden's own briefings have earned high marks, esp. for empathy, always one of Biden's strong points.

But Americans, daily, are able to watch how a leader not caught up in himself, not more concerned with his TV ratings, not seeing his briefings as a reality TV episode, operates. And that leader has been Andrew Cuomo. Not the most popular politician, apparently, until now. We probably know best, what our leaders are made of, when a crisis is truly critical, and Cuomo has basically shown what a true leader looks like at moments like this: this is how a president would respond to a national crisis.

So, daily, we are provided an alternative model of political leadership at this time, a model that invariably is contrasted to Trump's egocentric style. When Trump questions how many masks are needed, how many ventilators, Cuomo replies, I'll have to paraphrase, but he said something like this just yesterday: "I will not play politics with Trump. This is not a red state issue, a blue state issue, this is a red, white, and blue issue". He gets it, and if we had a president with the leadership and approach of Governor Cuomo, this thread would be a lot less political, IMHO....

74,835,565 divided by 365(days in a year)=205,028
So on AVERAGE the country needs an outstanding an IMPOSSIBLE 205,028 cases per day for a full year. Or that's a little less than 2 people per second for a year.

I still don't see it. Still makes absolutely no sense. Sadly others arent as smart as me. Like the dude who said warmer conditions doesn't effect a virus. Smart dude along with his sidekick "yOu dOn'T uNdewstan expoWenTial growf"(\sarcasm). I am fully capable of understanding "exponential growth" and I was right while you were wrong.

60C kills it. But how long does one have to exposed to 60C for that to occur?

Six seconds and one would have serious burns.
 
Anecdotal but probably worth mentioning.

My town had its first fatality last week - the guy was 72 years. Had coughing and shortness of breath on March 12 - no fever. Went to doctor and tested negative for the virus. Four days later couldn't breath - was rushed to the hospital and tested again and was positive. Between the two tests he infected his wife and daughter. Two days later was put in an induced coma - died 4 days later.

Also they were able to determine he was exposed to the virus on March 2nd. Which is a good 12 days before we started quarantining.

A lot of scary stuff to unpack there.
