Culture of winning or tank?

Win or tank?

Do you guys remember when the Warriors out tanked us and got our NY (?) pick which got them Harrison Barnes which then kick started their Championship run?

We actually helped them get their 4 titles by being too proud to out-tank that year.

The Stickman is not real, the stickman is not real…… Believe or don’t but hype and facts are two separate things. But urban legend has it that the man is an absolute BEAST!!! And I saw it with my own eyes in a very competitive… .meaningful showdown….made for tv exhibition platform for Victor and Scoot.
Myth #1 - All we have to do is tank hard and he falls into our laps like mana from heaven.
Fact - Even if we finish with the absolute worst record in the league we have a measly 14% chance of landing the guy.
Myth #2 - Best prospect since Lebron, did I say generational?
Fact - Lebron is built like some Greek God at 6’9” and 250 lbs. Victor is 7’3” or four and weighs 210 on a good day. He’s built like, well Chet Holmgren actually. Expecting the same level of durability and sustainability as Lebron is absolute lunacy!
Myth #3 - Wemby has the potential to be better than Kevin Durant.
Fact - Again, Durant, the original thin man is 6’9”, 240. More highly skilled in every facet and reasonably durable though he has suffered through some sizable injuries, the last of which cost his team over a year of court time. Brandon Ingram at 6’8” 190 is a better comparison. Though he played 79 games his first season, he’s averaged 58 in the five years since. He made All Star reserve status once and if he and Zion can ever be healthy at the same time, still has a small window to get past the first round and possibly get a ring.
Myth #4- Even if we tanked to last and missed on Wemby, the consolation prize would be Scoot Henderson and he’s another MONSTAR!!!!
Fact - Okay skilled sure, and at 6’2” 195, undoubtedly more durable than Wemby would be, but do we really need another undersized combo guard? Talk about Mitchell the second! I don’t have the time or patience to break down his numbers but ask yourself this, is he really that much or any better than Sexton, Beasley, THT or even Agbaji?
Myth #5 Superstars and lottery picks get preferential treatment in today’s NBA.
Fact- Not so much anymore as we saw last night. In light of the Doneghy revelations one poll had over 90% of respondents opining that it was a dishonest league. Silver has made it a priority to clean up the NBA’s tarnished reputation.

Stickman isn’t real I tell ya and neither is mortgaging our present full of good young players with loads of potential for an uncertain future. I think gambler Danny trades a few scratch-offs away for a blue chipper at the deadline anyway.

I'm just a fan. I don't get to choose whether or not I spend $1,000 on a lottery ticket.

What I do get to choose is whether or not I enjoy this season.
Also our rooting for or against doesn't change a thing.. I am just unable to cheer for missing shots or turnovers from our part. Even if of course I would like us to get a chance at the top pick when we play rational thinking goes out of the window.

Yeah.

Truthfully if I actually wanted the team to lose on any given night, I wouldn't even watch.

I remember way back when, when we had a team who's best players were Andrei Kirilenko, Raja Bell, and Carlos Arroyo. We won 42 games that year, and it drew attention from players across the league so much that we had Kenyon Martin considering signing with us.

Of course, we went with the better choice and got Boozer, but we also got Memo.

There's guys out there that will see the winning, positive culture and want to buy in if we do excess expectations and become a Cinderella storyesque team.

There's always the chance that Brooklyn has loads of chemistry issues and has a very bad year. I think this teams culture, and chemistry, and playstyle is too good to tank.

Walker was a late 20's pick. We have a number of draft picks in the coming years, so we can build a solid squad with our cap space, draft picks and trades. This team has a lot of depth, and high energy players. Sexton and Beasley coming off the bench is something a lot of teams may not have an answer for. Both guys could easily start on any other team. Kessler probably could too.

So basically, you would be happy with having a solid team that makes the playoffs every year but doesn't necessarily have the high-end talent to win a championship? That's exactly what we've had the last 6 years. Wasn't the whole reason why we blew up the roster and started a re-build because being a good team but not a great team wasn't good enough anymore? Didn't we all want more? Aren't we trying to build a roster that can be a true championship contender? I don't want to half *** this rebuild, I'm all in on being bad in the short term if it helps us win a championship in the long term.

We drew attention because we could offer the most money. We had a **** ton of cap space. Booze we got cuz he swindled a blind guy to get out of his contract. We didn't get that done because we competed honorably.

Our prize for that winning culture was Kris Humphries... instead of a shot at Dwight... other guys in that draft Okafor, Deng, Iggy, Ben Gordon, Shaun Livingston. Not a ton that get me too excited but all would have helped more than Kris and we still would have landed Booze/Memo.

I'm cool with the Jazz approach for 20 games... as it does give the young guys a good culture starter kit and it will increase the trade value of all the vets if they continue to play well. We also should be like 6-14 the first 20 even if we are solid. At that point you get whatever deal you can to offload some of the vets imo.
