What's new

Dante has been out forever because he ded

You are seriously looking at advanced stats of players 15 years apart?? Do you understand how this game works?? For one, the game is completely different back then and advanced stats when putting in comparison with another player would only be accurate if the talent of the ENTIRE team is equally matched, and the talent of the opponents of every team they played are equally matched. It's completely irrelevant to compare 2 players from completely different decades with 100% different teammates, facing 100% different opponents in 100% different style's of play.
I really think that it cute that you would bring out your 1938 Websters dictionary to a math class.
And before you rip ME a new one?? I just cut your a**hole all the way up your backside!
Dude, you are all talk. Please prove to me how 8 PER player would be improvement over Arroyo. And please do it with numbers as I do not value “potential”.
BTW you argument about different game, time, teammates is load of horse manure. Arroyo was decent starting point guard in whole 2003-2004 season. Exum can’t even be a decent backup for more than few games.

It's not horse manure at all, don't say that, you sound like even more of a whiney 5 year old when you call things you disagree with "horse manure". I really can't dive into something stupid like this head first right now, because I have your mom waiting for me and I already promised her I would do that for her tonight. Sorry.

I follow the Jazz since 1994-95 and the 2003-04 was indeed very entertaining. Was the Jazz team good? No! Far from it. Their lack of talent was comparable to the one that the Cavaliers have today. Offensively, they were dreadful. The offensive system of the S2M days remained, so the offense was an well-oiled machine. Nevertheless, they finished near the bottom in points and offensive rating. They not only lacked shooters but also no one commanded a double team. In some nights they simply could not score... and yet, they played incredibly hard. If my memory don't betray me, some media pundits were predicting less than 10 wins for the whole season and some of them even suggested that the Jazz would challenge for the worst record ever -- 7-75, I believe. The team finished 26-56, which was bad, but not awful.

The 03-04 jazz won 42 games. It was the next season they were 26-56. Seems like their offensive rating was worse than defensive rating but they still almost made the playoffs. Sloan had a disiplined team. I would love to see Exum play under Sloan's sets. Quin's offense does not create a lot of advantages for Exum's style of play.

That said, I never liked Arroyo. He made bad decisions, was not a good shooter, etc. A rookie Lopez played better, and was a better player. Injuries killed his potential. Dante's glaring deficiency is injury/lack of experience from injury. That may ultimately kills his career. Outside of 3pt fg%, (Arroyo had a worse efg% than Dante) Dante is a better passer, defender, driver, etc. Pretty much every aspect of the game.

Health issues are killing Exum. Every time he appears to be turning a corner, he gets hurt. The ankle issue is less a concern as prior season ending injuries. If he can stay relatively healthy going forward I will be happy to have him. It won't take many more big injuries before he will be done.

As much as I loved the post-stockton teams, our PG play before getting Deron were abysmally poor.

The simple fact is Exum is a far better talent than Arroyo.

Wut? Arroyo was better passer, much better handles and dribbling, much better mid range shooter, 3 pt shooter, FT shooter. Arroyo was not as good at finishing at the rim though. And the biggest difference, Arroyo was true PG who knew how to run the offense.
Just a reminder how Carlos and his Puerto Rico team crushed USA "dream team" ( James, Iverson, Wade, etc) in 2004. Really you guys need to re-evaluate your understanding about basketball.

You really said that 2003-2004 was one of the most fun seasons to watch in Jazz history since Stockton and Malone? A season which we finished as a 9th seed, not making the playoffs for the first time since 1984 ending a 20 year streak of making the playoffs. And you have been in awe for the last 15 years over that season and a point guard who in the best season of his career gave us 12 pts per game and 5 ast? He also averaged 28 minutes per game to achieve those weak stats, and shot 32% from deep, making .5 shots out of 1.6 attempts per game from deep. He also averaged 2.2 turnovers per game. He had a 4.4-10 turnover to assist ratio and your stating (and I quote) "I watched that season, one of the most fun season to watch in Jazz history since Stockton and Malone retired." And your calling me the idiot?? Please, stay in your lane Mario Andretti. THAT YEAR WAS THE FIRST TIME THE JAZZ HAD MISSED THE PLAYOFFS SINCE 1984!!! And I'm the idiot!!?? Pull your lip over your head and swallow.
And last but not least, I never started to compare them, you did that! I am simply stepping in with the baby powder and a back hand pimp slap that you have coming your direction, all because I see a trick stepping out of line. Pick your face up off the floor.

That season is universally recognized as one of the most exciting, and easily one of the most appreciated by fans.

Arroyo fans always point back to the USA game, lol. Per 36 their shooting percentages are fairly close. Their assists are close (Exum has a substantially lower usage rate, so his assist numbers are much higher when the ball is in his hand). And he is a much better defender and rebounder. And that was peak Arroyo vs an Exum that has never gotten momentum. The eye test shows a much better player with Exum, and I am honestly not surprised you don't see it. I need to quit clicking on the show ignored content link.
