Do you smoke?

Only time I get offended is when a smoker blows the smoke immediately in my direction. I was at a pub with some friends sitting at a bar top (table with four chairs in the bar area) where smoking is permitted. I wasn't offended that anyone was smoking (as it was allowed and it was my choice to be there).. but a woman at the table next to us was smoking and didn't want to exhale into her crowd so she would blow over her shoulder.. into my face. I wanted to smack the **** out of her even though I knew it wasn't intentional..

but rather than continue to sit in a cloud of smoke, I just moved over a table.. no scene.

If only you had followed this same code of conduct on #n9 when you confronted confederate bandana guy.

My attorney advised me that the statute of limitations on assault charges had expired.

See, I agree with what you did 100%. You were in a pub, smoking is allowed, you chose to be there, and decided to be the bigger person. Much different than walking into 7-11 and having someone standing at the door smoking like a chimney.

LOL @ this post. I love how you blame everyone else for your problems.

Yeah, I am one of those anti-smoking people here in Utah. But guess what, I won't cast you judgmental looks, I'll go up to you and tell you that you stink, that your smoke is ruining my day, that you are putting my kids health at risk, and to put that **** out.

Wow you sound like a (insert extremely offensive word here). Ruining your day? Good god.

Any thoughts on this subject? What about the costs of smoking imposed on everyone who chooses not to smoke?

This isn't the only cost, and it isn't as temporary as this article makes it sound. We all pay the price when someone is treated for a smoking-related disease and doesn't have insurance, for example. Not to mention potential environmental costs.

We should ban people being fat too then.

Might not be a bad idea. Although that risk is inherent in something everyone does to survive, as opposed to an activity that is very well known to cause health issues when used as intended and has no other intrinsic value of any kind.
