I think it's pretty clear to me that Collins has been our best player this season (Could argue for Walker as well). If he is playing with Lauri/Walker, the Jazz can upset some decent teams at home.

So do the Jazz trade him? He's been so good this year selling low might hurt Ainge.

I can also see an argument for keeping him long-term, especially if you can get him to agree to opt out and sign a nice long-term deal (though that seems unlikely). He will probably just take his money next year and enter the 2026 class where a lot of teams will have cap-space.

Only keeping the poll open for one day.

Given Collins improvement as a shooter and playmaker, I would probably lean on the side of keeping him long-term if possible. If you can get him on a fair deal, he would be an ideal 6th man big off the bench for a team that has Lauri/Flagg/Walker starting.

Maybe if you can get him to sign a 4 year/80 million dollar deal? I feel like that would give him great value moving forward. Would he take that? Im not sure. Maybe you could go a bit higher, like 4/90, but front-load the contract?

I think our only hope at this point is some kind of Butler trade where he’s included in the package going to Miami, but that seems like a bust thanks to Jimmy. Seems doubtful that he will get moved at this point.

I see a more realistic long term future for him than I do for Sexton, so I don’t mind keeping him. I feel bad that he’s improved so much and yet he has to play for this tanking team, but he seems happy.

I’d be ok either way as long as able to keep the tank alive. Would trade if a good deal on the table though as next season there will only be so many minutes to go around. Hendricks coming back hopefully strong and Cody Williams hopefully with some increased weight, and the ultimate hope for a PF through the draft

I don't think the Jazz should feel pressed to do anything. If a worthwhile offer comes in for Collins, then fine. Otherwise, he could be moved during the offseason. He's a good guy and veteran presence who seems to like being here.

Edit: I just saw he has a player option for next season. That'll affect his trade value. The team that trades for him will be a team that wants to extend him.

If Jimmy budges and accepts a trade to GSW, I think we could be in business. The Heat want the best possible team for the next two years, but not salary beyond that. They want to preserve max cap space with Hero and Bam.

Sexton and Collins are pretty good as fast as two year deal players. It would have to be something like:

Jimmy -> GSW
Sexton + Collins -> MIA
Wiggins + stuff from Warriors (Kuminga?) -> UTA

He's played well enough to flip the narrative on him, so yeah, I'd be stoked if I was him. He was looking at taking a really bad next contract, but with how he's playing he will have his options if he wants to wait til 2026 (and has another good season).

Most ideal scenario is the Jazz/Collins have an understanding he opts out and signs a new contract with Utah while agreeing to sit out most of the post-deadline season.

Fair enough….but he’s become a really good player and I pretty much feel bad for every player that has to sit in order to lose on purpose. He does seem very happy here though.

You can do this with pretty much any Jimmy trade btw…I think Sexton+Collins is just ideal for MIA as the intersection of win now talent but no salary beyond two years.

I think a multi team with PHI involving Paul George is interesting. Maybe we take him in and let him heal up for the year (DA finally gets his guy lol). Or we could potentially flip him to another team right away.

PG’s contract is terrible so I’d want something good for assuming that risk or I’d want to ship him out right away.

I would kind of love getting PG if you can put him on ice for the rest of the year. Would be insane to start 2025 with Lauri/Flagg/PG/Walker.

I think PG needs to be put on ice for the rest of this year anyways. It’s what would be best for his career instead of putting it all on the line for a play in run.

He’s an interesting case and a fun one to think about. Could be washed, but I think there will still be teams who want us….and if we land Flagg that could be us.

Yeah, he is at the age where the washing can just be very sudden.

The thing with getting PG is that I really only like it if we get Flagg, so it's betting on a 14% outcome. Otherwise you just have PG and a young potential star who might be 2-4 years away and PG could impede that growth.

Yes, I definitely think we should trade Collins. We’ve got seven young players and more coming in the next couple of drafts. The Jazz need to figure out what these young guys are and work on developing them. Hendricks will be on the court next season. Also, Cody will be playing more. We’re probably not going to be contenders for at least 3-4 years. This upcoming draft is an opportunity for us. Also, the 2026 draft. Shouldn’t toss them away. We're not ready yet.

Teams should be going after him pretty hard
Dude is having an amazing season. I mean if we were trying to win and feeding him more volume and he wasn't missing any games then he would be a guaranteed all star.
He is in his prime and plays hard as ****
