I guess what I don't understand is, if you're worried about winning too many games by keeping Kessler because the Jazz will add vets... why is the solution "Trade Kessler" instead of "Don't add more vets"?

That is the solution unless we're are blown away with a Kessler offer.

If we're blown away with a Kessler offer then we should trade him.

If there isn't a good offer, then we shouldn't let "losing a few more games" be a motivating factor to accept a meh offer is my whole point.

I’m surprised the Rockets are not reported to be one of the teams going after Lauri. Or maybe they are, but it's not talked about. They’ve got nice picks and young players.

Why would we let adding a few wins dictate who we do and don’t sign. I mean if we can add a vet who helps us win 4 games or so it has an extremely low chance of preventing us from getting a superstar. That vet would be a world beater and don’t we want to have good players. Hardy will just manage the season so we can have everything we want… there are no consequences.

I'm going to guess the roster spot remains open for trade flexibility
We can carry up to 20 guys in the offseason… they can fill that spot and still do whatever they need to.

My question was to those who are worried about winning a few more games because we will add vets, and therefore think trading Kessler would be a good idea to mitigate that.

You somehow miconstrued that to me saying I myself am worried about winning a few more games. I am not.

My solution IS don't add more vets.
I, however, don't work for the jazz in any capacity. Knowing that most teams like having vets my guess would be that if the jazz have an open roster spot that it will go to a vet.

I hope I'm wrong.

I also don't want to trade Kessler but if we can get something valuable for a player who the coach doesn't seem to like that much and it also helps us land a future MVP (by having no defense at all and losing a few more games) then I would be cool with that.
