Does Lauri Get Traded?

Does Lauri Get Dealt Before The Season Starts?

Then the Jazz should extend Lauri first, before "trading others". Because there is a non-zero chance that Lauri simply will not sign an extension with a stripped-to-the-studs team.
I think Lauri signs his RnE pretty much no matter what we do. It's just too much money on the table. We can bump him by ~25M this coming year alone. He's not leaving that on the table if he's offered. And he can always ask for a trade later.

Lauri clearly wants to waste his first 3-5 prime years to tanking and losing instead of playoffs.
I don't know anymore what to say. Hopefully Lauri knows what he's doing because i'm not sure is this lousy or good idea to stay in losing team.
Paul Pierce was 30 when Ainge made the big 3 Celtics, after years of "wasting his prime on tanking Celtics teams", a story I'm sure Ainge has mentioned to Lauri. Shai was younger, but bided time on a tanking Thunder team.

IDK, it must be frustrating for Lauri being the most tenured NBA player to never make the playoffs, but he has his reasons. He obviously wants to win and is a competitor

I think we recognize the need to embrace a more earnest tank. I think we know we have routes to do that. I think they gathered info on what the trade Lauri and tank route would yield and will kick the tires harder on the Kessler/Sexton routes. Neither guy is the first choice of other teams most likely so it makes sense attention turns that way now after FA is kinda wrapping up.

They may end up doing nothing but part of me wonders if Kessler in summer league is one part reps and one part showcase.

Eh, I'll take that with a grain of salt. The Jazz weren't getting a Gobert/Bridges package with Lauri expiring.
Packages based on picks are eye of the beholder... Like I think the GS pick package is better than the NY pick package if it includes super swaps. Its at least on par for us.

I also think the Knicks package was overrated while the GSW package that was reported was underrated.

Like could you buy Podz using the Knicks 2025 and Bucks 2025, both projected to be in the 20+ range?

If the answer is "no" or "maybe barely", then we are already pretty much on even ground.

We have about a month left of being able to bluff. I felt differently about the Mitchell situation...right now I think the Jazz need to make some tanktastic moves and I feel like something needs to happen soon. If not trading Lauri, should probably have some Sexton/Kessler deals ready to roll.

In any trade we make, I don't think it's worth it to try to eek out another bad first or whatever.

I feel like Kessler playing in the SL means he is less likely to be traded. Kessler isn't a guy who is going to be "showcased" in the SL, and you really shouldn't play a guy you're about to trade bc of injury risk.

Welcome to my corner... this has been my issue at times. We pass on things we should do for value differences and then don't squeak out second rounders when we clearly should. The direction of the franchise is more important than getting a better first or a couple of protected firsts or whatevs.

IDK... Bane had a major glow up in SL and Grimes was definitely showcased (was likely the plan to play him any way). A solid showing against an impressive rookie who projects to start? kinda shows his summer work in a bigger setting.

And if the GS package includes Podz and Moody I think it is actually a strong offer. Not saying its a deal you can't pass up.
I keep hearing about Golden State but it doesn't seem like a deal can really be done unless I'm missing something with the new 2nd Apron rules. (Which to be fair, it totally possible.)

I was under the impression 2nd Apron teams can't combine players to match salary. Maybe the sites are wrong and the Warriors are no longer 2nd Apron?

As a third year player and the player type Kessler is, I don't think it's really possible for him to change another team's opinion of him. Even if he dominated, I think the response would be "so what" and rightfully so. Even for good second year players the expectation is that they should be too good for this level of competition. The downside potential if he plays mediocre or gets injured is much greater.

They are under the second apron.

One thing to consider is who will be the team leader if you trade the winning vets?

I would be worried about culture if Key was the best player left behind.

Probably so but one more test drive before purchasing the car may not change your mind but might solidify the decision to move forward.
