What's new

Done hating on Kanter.

I was mad at him because of the national team issue. Now I can see he didn't waste those time. Now I'm content.

His dunk on Aldrich was pretty nasty. Didn't think Kanter could take contact and jump that high.

He looked God awful in that first half, but put together a great game after those struggles!! I think he will have some moments this year where u r just going to want to pull ur hair out, but then will totally redeem himself shortly after!!

But I am very optimistic!!!

His rebounding gives me a huge basketboner.

Great game all around though. People are way too hard on young bigs. You know that saying, "Bigs take longer to develop?" Well, it's a saying because bigs take longer to develop.

I saw the title of this thread and I thought there would.be a slight chance it was Franklin that started it.

What was I thinking?

i seriously don't get it how a guy that is quite slimm now (6-11 and 240 lbs) can be that strong and still an elite level rebounder. it's beyond me.

btw, he is incredibly quick, fast and really explosive now. kid has the conditioning of a guard. i could never ever expect him to improve his athleticizm that much. he looks like a different player now. if he is going to continue to work hard as predicted and improves over the next 1-2 years, we're talking about an all-star player. 16 and 12 type of a player is quite realistic, imo.

he has great touch, good range, soft hands, incredible rebounding ability, good on the defensive end, good moves in the post and is really quick and fast and has great footwork. he can shoot the ball, hit his free throws and play solid defense. to go on with, he has good size and great strength. he is a complete player! if he can fix some small issues, he is going to make a name of himself.

first i have never hate him, he just look like another lazy PF. Nobody knows how he will play for 2-3 years. Now i'm totally optimistic. i'm really happy for him and UTAHJAZZ. Everyone think that D.Favors will expolde, SUPRISE IT'S KANTER PRESEASON for NOW.

Kanter looked as spastic as Araujo in the post. Sell him and the GSW pick for an All Star 1,2,or3 and the Jazz have Finals potential.

Jefferson's a better defensive player than Marc Gasol, and Reggie Miller and Ray Allen were good 3rd options...

I would assume that it was 'spastic bad' what with him wanting to trade him away.

Kanter looked athletic, jumpy, and lost in the post a lot of the time, but those are things that can be fixed and fine tuned over time. I just hope that he doesn't demand a max contract when it comes time.

Spastic good or spastic bad?

He has a lot of work in the post ahead of him. That reverse dunk and baseline jumper were nice though.

I'm really excited to see how this team pulls together this year. Maybe Kanter has a meaningful role in that, maybe not. I'd still love to get solid backcourt for him and move into phase II of this experiment.

If you could make the choice and could only have one, would you prefer a 1 or 2?

I'd take Rondo in a second.

Depends on the definition of steal. If Kanter were not on the roster, Favors would get more minutes. Is that stealing?

No, I mean right now Kanter is probably looking at getting 10-15 minutes (assuming Sap and Jefferson stay healthy and on the roster), so anything above 15 (with Favors minutes dipping below 25), is what I would consider "stealing".

Kanter is already a starter in my opinion with is talent. He still will make a lot of mistakes but he is ready to play big minutes. The scary thing is he has a lot more potential because he has some intangibles.

Mid range shot
Kanter > Favors

Rebounding
Kanter > Favors

Footwork
Kanter > Favors

Running the break
Kanter > Favors

I know Favors is better at blocking shots and dunking but to be honest this is Favors 3rd year and I am honestly down on him. I am not worried about stats in preseason I am worried about Favors and him not improving his game at all over the off-season. His footwork is still horrible and his mid range shot isn't any better. He even lost the ball a few times and his hands don't seem as strong as they should be.
This is his 3rd season and I don't see any improvement except his frame is bigger. I still think he will be effective and a good starter but so far I haven't seen anything that shows he can be an all-star. I will obviously wait until the season starts up to see if anything is different. But so far its not looking good.
