You know what, you're right. For some reason I was thinking he had just missed one season and part of last year. Total brain fart on my end.
 
Hollinger's Value Added top 50 rankings include 3 Jazz Players:

38. Gobert
48. Mitchell
50. Favors

VA is very useful for award voting in particular, because it allows us to compare players with disparate production and minutes -- say, one player who was brilliant in 60 games and another who was merely good but played all 82 -- and figure out which performance was more productive... Gobert is the only player on Top 50 at 30th spot on PER.
 
How many players in the NBA would you trade straight up for Mitchell? Like 5 maybe. The fact that he's a rookie and this good already makes me tingle.

I started thinking about the question....then I decided I don’t care. Donovan’s incredible, I love him, that’s all that matters.
 
Did I hear Locke right the other day when he said that DM had the worst PAC(?) number (measures offensive output above average - I think) on the Jazz - but the BEST defensive rating on the team??

No one. And I'm being completely serious. Sure, you could say LBJ, Giannis, Harden, Steph and several others. And you'd be right. But Donovan means a helluva lot more to Utah than just his raw stats. Mitchell has embraced the team, the fans and the state like no other. Is it an act? Maybe. But it's a great one. Mitchell is an ambassador for the team and the state. That's not something you'd ever trade. Can you imagine the backlash?

I guess you can use any criteria you want for 'best player'.

If best player has any links to impact on winning basketball games I think there are a few more people on this list. Mind you, DM's potential to rise up this list is real.


Currently 'better' than Mitchell (no particular order) and in ADDITION to the ones you listed (Minus Beal):

So all in all I have him at 31.
I found it interesting that on WINS he is ranked 32. And many of the people I had ahead of him were ahead of him on Win Shares. Not sure how great that stat is, but it matched with my 'eye' test and glance at other stats. The only players I had ahead of him that were not ahead of him on WINS were Kyrie and Rudy.

I estimate him to be top 15 within 18 months.

We started dominating teams when Rudy came back. Rudy has been our most important player this year and it's really not that close.
