El Paso Shooting

@red. Good points. But trump didn’t ban Muslims. He banned immigration from specific countries. There’s a very real difference. Are there some reports on him targeting all Muslims?

He promised to ban all Muslims after the California shooting, and he tried to do so. Video

Then his first executive order was shot down in court

Then his second one held up, but it was much watered down and covered a tiny fraction of all Muslims.

Trump is saying things that normal presidents don’t. It’s not the same.
This is true too.

Obama was criticized for things he didn't say. In these situations (I guess he was criticized for enticing race wars or so they say.)

Trump is criticized for things he doesn't say and mostly for the **** he does say.

I'd be in favor for a white supremacist Christian ban.

While racism is to blame for terrorist attacks, religion is tenfold as guilty.

There always has to be those radical mother ****ers that ruin it for everyone.

Specific countries is how I always understood it. But what he did and what he wanted very well could have been two different things.
His rhetoric during the campaign was definitely about banning all Muslims. The countries on the ban didn't really make much sense when you consider the historical data of terrorist attacks in the US carried out by foreign nationals.

It's debatable as to whether or not the ban actual constituted a targeted ban on Muslims or not, but Trump's own words makes it pretty clear he intended it to be, even if he wasn't ultimately successful in achieving it.

This is an example of why context is everything.
Many say Obama's was anti cop causing the Dallas massacre on police. You don't remember the outrage of him during his cop speech where he sympathized with BLM right after a member just shot up Dallas?

"Many said," ROTFL, as if that's proof of anything.

I would hope we could criticize the police (and boy oh boy do they merit it) without being blamed for someone killing a cop. Heaven forbid we criticize authority figures who abuse their power/position or otherwise act badly.

Context matters, which I guess is too subtle of a concept for some to grasp.

Thanks for the info.

I don’t think it’s really debatable that the ban was targeted at “muslims”. If it was Muslims he was after this is a completely idiotic way of going about that. Countries with massive Muslim populations are left off.

But then again it’s Trump and idiotic fits.

I thought your point was clear and easily understood.
His point seems to be that we shouldn't blame the president for what he says and tweets when it appears to connect to the reasoning why some psycho kills a bunch of people.

I on the other hand think that what the president says and tweets can and does have an effect on people.
