El Paso Shooting

I don’t think any republican could actually define this right now. Conservativism for repubs right now means agreeing with whatever trump says at the moment.

Liberalism means blindy believing anything the tube tells you. Even though you know you've been lied to over and over. Like groundhogs day.

This is a great post. I think you’re absolutely right. Trumpism is Fascism, but the American version. Trump is smart in that he knows which buttons to push and which nerves to hit. He knows that demonizing Jews and Catholics wouldn’t fly here. But he knows that demonizing people of color and Muslims does. He knows that there’s a perception that “real America” isn’t the cities and urban centers, but the rural areas. He knows there’s great fear and paranoia about taxes, the media, socialism, and gun regulation. So he stays on message, keeping his base angry.

So yes, I think it was either Tim Snyder or Robert Paxton who taught that Fascism is most effective when it is modified to fit the signs, symbols, of needs to every particular country. The swastica doesn’t work here. But demonizing people of color and wrapping ourselves with the Bible and flag certainly does.
What's the saying? When fascism comes to America it will be carrying the cross and wrapped in the flag, or something?

Or it means we need more guns to protect ourselves from people like the Dayton shooter
We already have all the guns.

Also I remember you saying you don't have a gun.

The media is the bogeyman. Don't look under your bed hack, that's where they hide

The book, “Taliban” explains how due to the lost Afghani generation of the 1980s, many children (especially males) were damaged. After a decade of war with the Soviets, the war torn country struggled to rebuild. Many children were left as orphans, education was stifled, and emotional trauma was left untreated.

This led to (extremist) schools in Pakistan taking advantage of these orphans and turning them into terrorists (the Taliban).

My fear is, what effects will the NRA’s lock on republicans in preventing gun reform have on children? As our children grow into young adulthood, what negative effects will they carry? Will they have a paranoia? Resent school? Be cynical and Distrust a democratic government? Will they lose trust in things that bring communities together? Will they seek vengeance?

I feel like there’s a lot more at stake here with the gun debate than the costly lives lost.

This video shows what I’m talking about. It’s only 2 mins long but it’s well worth it.

I just read this online.

Mass Shootings Under Administrations:
Bush: 4
Clinton: 8
GWB: 8
Obama: 24
Trump: 4

That obviously can't be right since we've had about 250 mass shootings in the USA since January. So what is the criteria they are using?

Actually, the more I Google the numbers, the more I see it's wrong. Obama had something like 32 during his presidency. Trump has to have way more than 4.

Either way, the point I was making posting this is that mass shootings have been a problem for a long time, regardless of presidents.

If you are only counting shootings that are not against family members (and others near the family members), where the death toll is 4 or more (not counting the shooter), just in Trump's administrative term alone you have:

6/5/17 Orlando FL factory shooting (5 dead)
10/1/17 Las Vegas NV concert shooting (59 dead)
11/5/17 Sutherland Springs TX church shooting (27 dead)
1/23/18 Melcroft PA gas station shooting (4 dead)
2/14/18 Parkland FL Stoneman Douglas High School shooting (17 dead)
5/18/18 Santa Fe TX High School shooting (10 dead)
5/30-6/4/18 Scottdale AZ spree shootings (6 dead)
6/28/18 Annapolis MD Capital Gazette shooting (5 dead)
10/27/18 Pittsburgh PA synagogue shooting (11 dead)
11/7/18 Thousand Oaks CA bar shooting (12 dead)
1/23/19 Sebring FL bank shooting (5 dead)
2/15/19 Aurora IL plant shooting (5 dead)
5/31/19 Virginia Beach VA municipal building shooting (12 dead)
8/3/19 El Paso TX Walmart shooting (22 dead)
8/4/19 Dayton OH street shooting (9 dead)

That's not including shootings like the one at the Congressional baseball practice, the guy that shot up two parishes in Louisiana, etc.
