In 2006/2016,did the FBI have all of his cds with pictures of nude girls on them?

Was the SDNY in charge of the prosecution in 2006/2016?

In just the past few days the FBI has seen a flood of alleged victims contact them.

You don’t think the #metoo movement hasn’t changed the way we look at this type of crime?

I dunno, but I think you’re being a little too cynical about this. Also, Clinton is running in 2020. So if you felt like the media suppressed Epstein’s story in 2016, they should plaster it plus all the new evidence to take some people down in 2020. There’s no reason for them to protect Clinton or Trump now. Right?

I think there's a difference between suppressing something and not covering something. You've seen three years now of throwing anything at Trump imaginable. Real, not real, fabricated, whatever. This stuff had legs back then. Why no coverage? IIRC, there was an active court case against Trump and Epstein around the election. Instead we're talking about how Trump may have started WWIII by accepting a phone call from the Prime Minister, or whatever, of Hong Kong.

I definitely think that any link Epstein has/has with trump will cause a big story today. I also believe that one of the victims claimed in 2016 to have been raped by Trump. If this victim is still working with prosecutors, this could really blow up. Especially if Epstein has photos...

And he will very likely (it seems to me) go to jail for a very long time, and it's quite possible those who helped and/or used him will be exposed. Whereas 5 days ago that didn't seem possible. And the guy who gave him the "sweetheart deal" is serving as our current Secretary of Labor (which granted is a 2 year old story, but is still ongoing). Were details of the deal even fully known before this week? I hadn't heard them, anyway. And the FBI has set up a hotline for anyone else who was abused by him to call in and let them know. And if I recall correctly there is at least one new accuser who has come forward this week. Sorry if you don't think this all is worth reporting on right now.

But based on comparison with any Trump-related story, it should have blown up then. Of course it can "blow up" now because the cat is out of the bag. Not that the cat was actually ever in the bag. FFS, how many stories with much less credibility came forward about Kavanaugh that blew up the news cycle? I felt there was more legs to this story back in 2016 than there was for many, many other things that have come up since then. This would have been their "smoking gun," yet they didn't go with it.

I'm not saying it's not worth reporting at all. What I'm saying is that this was worth reporting way back when, especially for a media that's looking for any reasons to knock off Trump. And yet they didn't...
 
I think it’s a yuge win to take Epstein off the streets. And if we can get rid of his oligarchy of child rapists? Even better. I’d like to see both Clinton and Trump investigated. Clinton took the Lolita Express 26+ times? Cmon. Trump has flat out been accused of rape? As Donald would say, “Drain the Swamp!”

I know some of us were discussing this very thing back then on JazzFanz. I could not believe that the media wasn't running away with this story. It was frustrating at the time. I asked people around me if they knew that there was a rape charge filed by a girl who had been 13 years old at the time (and occurred at an Epstein party), and no one knew that story. And no one cared and voted for him anyway.

I just watched the movie "The Front Runner" last night about Gary Hart's presidential run, which was taken down by the accusation of an extramarital affair. Times have changed since 1987.

People understand that even if Epstein is convicted on all charges he will still get a lighter sentence than Paul Manafort did for failing to pay taxes. The charges they have brought him up on are pretty damn weak, considering. . .

My understanding, which could be flawed, is that they could only bring a single case against him, of one of the previously-known crimes (rape of young girl) that occurred in NY. That carries a 15 year sentence. But they can add additional charges if they find additional evidence--like for example the new evidence of the child porn pics that they found in his safe.
