ESPN INSIDER Lottery draft guide: Jazz must build around Favors

Per your OP, i don't know if anyone, myself included, doubts his talent. I just don't see him as a true star you can build a team around, and currently he is our best player, so therefore he is our best asset to acquire a star. As much as I like Hayward, I'd say the same thing about him if we had already inked him to a very appealing deal. I'll say the same things about Kanter and Burks when their more appealing to other teams and inked, if we are still starless by that point. Jazz need a star. I just see less hope for Hayward and Favors than Kanter and Burks because of age, minutes played etc. no one is untouchable until we have a star.

Its amazing how much time i spent pimping burks and havin damn near everyone disagree and argue with me.
Now suddenly most of the board agrees.

Better late than never i guess
Jury is still out on Burke (at least in my mind), but the Jazz have legit starters at all 5 positions, plus a couple of good backups. Barring trades, they'll add a couple more good players in the draft and perhaps bring in a solid free agent or two. Jazz have assets to make a trade and the cap space to take on salaries. I'm highest on Burks right now, but Favors had a pretty good season. That said, any of them are expendable for a young all-star.

I agree.

I love me some burks but would trade his *** quickly for a star player

What is Orlando's starting lineup?

Vet PG
Oladipo
Afflalo
Harris
Vucevic

yeah, I could really see them drafting Smart if he has a solid workout. That would be a cool 1/2 punch. Of course, they could also take Exum, but I'm not sure how familiar they are with Exum as a player.

I think they're content with the Afflalo/Harris/Vucevic front court though, so I can't really see them snagging Vonleh.

Unfortunantly I think I read somewhere that their coach knows Exum quite well from some basketball event that went on last year.

We need an elite scorer. I think our only chance at finding one in this draft or on our current roster is Burks. We need to see what he is made of. No reason he can't have a Derozan like 4th year leap. At this point finding an excellent coach and development staff is the most vital thing we can do this offseason. We have to mine our players and see what we really have.

Did Derozan get an extension before becoming a restricted free agent? I hope Burks gets locked down here.

Have not spent a lot of time on this, but my comment above had me look. Burks made HUGE strides statistically this past year. Why are we not more amped about him?

I am amped about Burk's play. I want him apart of the future much more than say Hayward.

I have always been in love with Alec. For him to become great he needs to get a more consistent jump shot and get stronger on defense. I love his crazy shot ability.

The jumper has come around to where it still isnt a strength..... but its not a major weakness.

He definately needs to play stronger on the defensive end. (Or always match him up with quicker smaller guards or finesse guys)

Love Burks.

Don't forget about Kanter doe

I wish that burks and kanter had played as much as hayward and favors have so far.

I like that i pretty much know who hayward and favors are as players and about what they are worth.

With burks and kanter none of us have any idea...... hopefully DL knows what they are worth for extension/trade purposes

Pretty sure most of us have an idea.

We might think we do, but 2 years ago people though burks ceiling was a decent backup.

one year ago people thought burks ceiling was a good sixth man.

Now people think his basement is a good sixth man and most think he will be one of the best sixth men in the league or a good starter.

Maybe next year people think he can be a number 1 option and an all star.

If he had played as much as hayward then i believe we would already know.

(Im sure you already know how good he will be and you always have, so you dont have to tell me all about it)

On second thought, corbin was a bad *** coach who handled everything just right in regards to player development.

We should bring him back since our players are still really young and need more development

Ceiling is a good 6th man/good backup.

That is laughable.

What is everyones problem. Burks is a good player he can do it from the bench because he doesn't need the other players to help him create his own shot.

He, Kanter, and Favors have the highest potentials on our team.

Don't sit around and assume that Corbin's rotations last year were what they should have been.

Ceiling is a good 6th man/good backup.

i knew it.

I cant blame you too much though since you have not had a large enough sample size of burks in the starting lineup as a number 1 one option.

At least we got a good look at gordon in that role so we know we definately cant have him in that role

Bottom line is Burks is a valuable player, and asset to any team. He is fearless, attacks the rim, and can score in a multitude of ways. Every good team needs a spark, and a team star off the bench. Burks may well be that guy, or transform into a starter.
