ESPN INSIDER Lottery draft guide: Jazz must build around Favors

- Favors (Center: defensive presence)

- Burke (Point Guard: game manager, playmaking, shooting)

- Randle (Power Forward: inside scoring, rebounder, fighter)

Grab vets, picks, role players, but Build around those 3.

Favors - PF
Burke - SG
Burks - SG
Hayward - SG
Kanter - SG

Instead of another PF in Randle, why not get a Center, SF, or PG?

What is Orlando's starting lineup?

Vet PG
Oladipo
Afflalo
Harris
Vucevic

yeah, I could really see them drafting Smart if he has a solid workout. That would be a cool 1/2 punch. Of course, they could also take Exum, but I'm not sure how familiar they are with Exum as a player.

I think they're content with the Afflalo/Harris/Vucevic front court though, so I can't really see them snagging Vonleh.

At worst, Burks should be a decent 6th man. With his improved spot-up shooting this season, he can also play effective halfcourt minutes even if he can't handle being a starting offensive hub. I'd rather the Jazz trade Gordo or Kanter at this point.

Yes.

They're both centers in today's NBA.

And yes.

Its amazing how much time i spent pimping burks and havin damn near everyone disagree and argue with me.
Now suddenly most of the board agrees.

Better late than never i guess

Per your OP, i don't know if anyone, myself included, doubts his talent. I just don't see him as a true star you can build a team around, and currently he is our best player, so therefore he is our best asset to acquire a star. As much as I like Hayward, I'd say the same thing about him if we had already inked him to a very appealing deal. I'll say the same things about Kanter and Burks when their more appealing to other teams and inked, if we are still starless by that point. Jazz need a star. I just see less hope for Hayward and Favors than Kanter and Burks because of age, minutes played etc. no one is untouchable until we have a star.

Jury is still out on Burke (at least in my mind), but the Jazz have legit starters at all 5 positions, plus a couple of good backups. Barring trades, they'll add a couple more good players in the draft and perhaps bring in a solid free agent or two. Jazz have assets to make a trade and the cap space to take on salaries. I'm highest on Burks right now, but Favors had a pretty good season. That said, any of them are expendable for a young all-star.

I agree.

I love me some burks but would trade his *** quickly for a star player

Unfortunantly I think I read somewhere that their coach knows Exum quite well from some basketball event that went on last year.
