Exum's Second NBA Game

Woohoo, we need more role players. Can't ever have enough of those.

I am incredibly disappointed we didn't try harder to move up. It is getting old having so many B level players, and adding another B+ level player does nothing to raise the excitement level. It's gonna be hard being a JF for the next few years.

Dante's lateral quickness and first step(and second...third) plus outright speed alone make him incredibly intriguing and elevates him above your typical B prospect. Factor in his IQ and his youth and you've got an A prospect. There's a reason scouts were salivating over him. As others have said, he's going to take time to become his best.

Remember when Dwight Howard was drafted largely on promise? That's kind of like Dante.

The Jordan comparison is horrible. Michael played three years in college and won the championship game in the NCAA tourney. He was far more ready than Exum will be.

Kobe is a much better comparison, although the odds are still very slim that he'll turn out anywhere near as good.

Here's what Kobe did in his second game:
3 mins
0/1 FGs
1/2 FTs
1 pt
1 TO
0 reb
0 ast
0 steals
and a +/- of -8

...which is a darn "impressive" +/- given only 3 minutes of play

Although he did get benched all the way through his rookie season regardless of how good he was and how high was his potential. And he was in LA. Dante is so much more pumped advertisement-wise I think and he is in SLC which will give him the "situation" of many valuable young players to develop simultaneously and collectively. But comparison is valuable because it tells us that regardless of how bad these young players perform in the early stages of their careers, they can step up to a much higher level that expected. I am much higher on Exum now than I was a year before.

Kanter grabbed 11 boards in his first step on the floor. Then he went downwards on boards. Now he is trying to get back the things he lost because of bad coaching or whatever. What I meant is these guys all still have a way to go, let alone a rookie with nice skills like Exum.

So you'd support trading Favors, Exum, and our unprotected pick next season (likely top-10, with the chance of being in the lottery) for Wiggins? Because that was allegedly the counter offer from Cleveland after they rejected Favors, the #5 and #23. I realize Wiggins, Parker and Embiid were considered Tier-1 prospects, but Exum has to be Tier 1.5. He has ELITE size and speed. Not just good...ELITE!

Is he raw? Yes. So were Kobe, Garnett and McGrady coming out of HS. WE have to realize Dante isn't even a 1-and-done prospect. Yes, that puts him a year behind the other prospects born in 1995. I'm ok with that. There are questions with all three of the top prospects: Parker isn't even being projected as a SF anymore due to his weight. So now he's a short PF. Wiggins? Limited range. Embiid? Health. WE didn't have to give up ANYTHING to get Exum, nor take back a contract (like Jack at $6M+). Getting Exum at #5 was an absolute STEAL!

Wasn't Exum in tier 1 according to that one article ranking all of em?

Sarcasm?

Fantastic article. A must read for future Exum fans. That said, I don't care who you've played against or what kind of training you've had. Unless, you've played against American black kids you haven't played against anyone. Period.

It will take exum AT LEAST 2 years to be as good as prime jordan imo.... probably even longer than 2 years

Everything you did there...I saw it all.

Latest footage of Exum to surface...

OP even said he wants to dream..BUT NOOOOO, not allowed to have high hopes around here lol..you have to already know this kid will fail, that way if he doesnt you are happy..thats the mindset around here usually....I say, hell yeah, let it happen...sounds good to me.

What the hell are you talking about?

99 percent of jazzfanz is acting like exum is a guaranteed superstar and hall of famer and we know hardly any thing about him.
If anything we are all being too optimistic about him.

Seriously. In terms of Jazzfanz being in agreement, Exum might be the most popular draft pick in Jazz/jazzfanz history.

Slow and reasonable is my approach. A modicum of restraint is great when it comes to draftees.
