What's new

Farewell to Andrei

2 mil a year and he keeps his hair short like when he was young. I don't think that's asking for too much.

Yet, the offense and defense perform better, and have for years.
The notable exception to this being both the Jazz offense and defense in the 06/07 season (the season AK cried like a little bitch). The Jazz defense was also (barely) better with AK off the court this season.

Bringing back AK wouldn't necessarily be a bad move. If by some miracle the Jazz can lock him into a 2 year contract, he'd be one more 2012 expiring contract (along with Big Al, Millsap, Devin Harris and Raja Bell).

Unfortunately, bringing AK back next season may lead to the Jazz being a better, but still non-contending team next season, which would hurt in the ping pong ball department. Regardless, AK should not be a priority this offseason.

Plenty of nonsense in this thread from the usual short-bus crew. My favorite is the brilliant theme of "Andrei Kirilenko sucks really bad, doesn't help us to win, and is easily replaceable, but I am still pissed when he doesn't play because he is hurt too often."

Yep,

Black Harp can easily replace Boozer,
Korver sucks because he can't play D
D Will is a prince and is our future
Boozer sucks
Okur doesn't block shots.

Well genisus, nobody to blame next year.

Welcome to suck. You clowns are going to get Chuck A Rama Table full of it for the next decade.

Face it, this was AK's contract year. This last year is as good as he is going to play over the next three years. I just can't imagine him playing any better.

Yes it was a blunder because the Jazz had to let Korver and Matthews go. The Jazz won a playoff series without Memo and the Jazz are in the lottery because DW was traded, Sloan left, the addition of several new players and injuries to other players. Memo was not even part of the play this year. Losing Memo hurt but if the Jazz had been able to get rid of AK and not extended Memo they would have been able to add other players while keeping Matthews and perhaps Korver.

Not likely. The JAzz FO - and every team EXCEPT Portland - thought the Matthews' offer was outrageous. Wes is a good player, but you don't give that much money to a guy who has been a starter for 1/2 season. As for Korver, his fate was sealed the moment he decided to stop shooting in order to protect his record. Jazz probably would have gone up to $5M for Matthews, regardless of having Okur or AK on the roster. I doubt Korver was in the plans at any point, due to the drafting of Hayward and belief that CJ would be a legitimate starter.

One of those cancers where the team plays better on both sides of the court when he on the court, and has consistently done so for the several years? You think we don't need any of those "cancer"s that make the team better?

Breast cancer can make your boobs bigger. A pituitary tumor can increase your height and reduce your body fat percentage. Pancreatic cancer can help you lose weight. Damn, why didn't I ever consider it from this angle before?

I have been one of AK biggest fans since he joined the Jazz. So, not surprisingly, his career has been a huge disappointment to me. No, his failures have not been all his fault, but he has to share part of the blame for not working to improve himself.

In frustration, I had a pet name for him whenever he failed to meet my expectations. I'm sure AK haters on this board might use it whenever they refer to him -- STINKOLINKO.

It's definitely better than Raja Smell, who actually is more deserving of our disapprobation.

Your a big AK fan but you refer to him as STINKOLINKO? So your a hypocrite? You can only comment him when he plays to your expectations? Well I give you props for admitting to what most people should be ashamed of. I too am an AK fan. Ive never said that about him though. But yea I think the Jazz should definately resign him. Obviously for much less money, but he is still a great defensive player and a decent offensive player as well.

Pearl, why the venom? Never seen this side of you but it is nice to see you post?

Oh, and just for the record so I'm "not just a hater"...

Black Harp can easily replace Boozer,

Statistically, no, but most certainly prefer Millsap over Boozer.

Korver sucks because he can't play D

I actually argue that Korver was indeed our best defensive wing.

D Will is a prince and is our future

I was on board with this.

Boozer sucks

It's true.

Okur doesn't block shots.

Hey, I liked Ostertag and appreciated what he brought and knew we needed to get a shot-blocker to replace him. Despite this, I've always loved Memo. Yes, once Ostertag was gone it made us appreciate what a guy like him can bring in hindsight, but let's not underappreciate what someone like Memo brings only to realize it when we have another Ostertag. For years we screamed for a center with some offense. Well, we got it and all some people could do is bitch that he wasn't a shot-blocker.
