What's new

Favors and Burks are the future of the Utah Jazz

Kanter, Hayward, and Evans will all be part of the future but Favors and Burks will be the future of tthis team! I see Burks as a Brandon Roy type and Favors as an Amare Stoudemire type.

Thoughts?

Too early to tell. Burks shows plenty of talent and promise, but we have to see it displayed at the highest level. Hayward has the tools but his shot has to be consistent, imo, for him to real damage. Kanter (see Burks). Favors has to develop more of a killer instinct.

All the youth, talent, skill, size, and athliticism are there, just have to hope most of these guys TAKE the most of it.

I think Hayward will be a real stud and one of our cornerstones. He's not overly athletic, but he's also not without. He's very skilled and seems capable of completing most tasks on the basketball court. That's the thing I think is lost on most fans... Of course this is my opinion, but all a player needs to do is be able to complete what is asked of him, it doesn't require other worldly physical skill. There were plenty of pg's more athletic than Stockton, but he got the job done. Hayward seems similar; a high IQ guy that can pick up an offense and do what is asked. MY NAME'S GORDON HAYWARD, I GET BUCKETS!!

48.5% Field Goal percentage, 47.3% 3-Point percentage. Pretty consistent for a small sample size. Only knock was 71.1% FT shooting.

If Burks will be as half good as Hayward, then we are really lucky, but i don't have any data to say he can be allstar right now. You can't be a star if you look good, but to be an allstar your game should look good, and we haven't seen him yet. Also Favors is offensively too far from being a Amare. They are completely different players. His game looks more like Kenyon Martin than Amare

Translation: Gordon Hayward is white.

I hope Burks is great but the discussions about him remind me of things said about Ronnie Brewer after we drafted him

I'd have to see them actually play in the NBA first.

Burks is absolutely more skilled but i have so many doubts about his defense

If Hayward plays as a SG, he could definitely develop into a stud. Don't see him as a stud at SF, though. Still a good player, just not a stud. If Evans can develop into a decent SF, which I think he has the attributes to do, we would be deep at every position.

PG Harris, Watson, Burks
SG Hayward, Burks, Bell
SF Miles, Evans, Hayward
PF Favors, Millsap, Evans
C Jefferson, Okur, Kanter

I don't think whether or not he starts at SF or SG is going to have that big of an impact on his career.

So you aren't so high on hayward?

I am high on Hayward. I was saying I don't think his position (SG or SF) will have that big of an impact on his career. The person I quoted said something along the lines of "Hayward will be a stud at SG but not at SF". I think he will be the same player regardless of which of those two positions he plays.

I think there was news over the offseason that Miles is training on being utilized more as a SG. So either we sign an SF or either Evans or Hayward will be starting at SF according to your interpretation of the rotation of our players. I think towards the end of the season we could see Harris Hayward Millsap Favors and Jefferson (depending on whether Millsap chooses to become either an SF or not) or it could be Harris Miles Hayward Millsap Jefferson, or Harris Burks Hayward Favors Jefferson, or even Harris Bell Veteran FA SF and then Millsap and Jefferson. Our lineup is completely up for grabs, I dont see the point in trying to cement one as of this point because so many things can happen.

As far as who will be the best out of Burks, Hayward, Favors, or Kanter, I think you might as well throw at a dart board to determine it. If Burks gets his shot down, he obviously is going to be really good. Hayward has already shown glimpses of all star caliber play. Favors has his elite size and athleticism going for him. Kanter has dominated at every level including the Eurobasket taking age into account.

Exactly. Way to early to try and determine who should get how many minutes.
