This. In a year or 2 he and AJ together will be a nightmare matchup for just about any front line out there.
I really enjoy watching him play. The only thing that troubles me is that he doesn't really fight for rebounds. Kinda waits for Jefferson to grab it. Am I wrong or does anyone else think he could be more aggressive on the boards? Otherwise, so far so good.
i am excited to see Favors next season. he is already pretty big now but he can add at least another 20 pounds of muscle without affecting his athleticism and he will become a beast.
saw someone tweeted on twitter and i will RT here: Favors alone is going to worth the trade. too early to tell but i can definitely see it happening.
Interesting write4u, to me it seems like he is our best pick and roll defender. He really hedges the pick hard and gets quickly back to his man
Kanter? What position will he play, PG? We already have Al and Favors, now we need a star wing player. Hayward will develop into a solid player, but we need another solid wing at this point.
Your very wrong.
We still need a true center by stature. Granted with AJ and Favors (if he keeps developing) we have a pretty long front line, and it does change the dynamic enough that finding a solid scoring wing is the top priority. But that front line still gets smacked by Odom/Gasol/Bynum. A true 7-footer would be a great addition to that group.
I have hoped that Hayward can become the scoring wing we need. He is already a decent defender and has a very nice shot, and is fearless attacking the basket. He shows some maturity and mental fortitude that has been lacking in our young wing players.
I think you mean "his very wrong is what?".
It all goes back to the rightful order of the basketball universe and if your team is going to really really good Millsap is your 3rd big not a starter. Favors is going to be the starter the day you are really good so why not now. The reason is because Millsap is the ultimate pro and deserves all the respect in the world. I wonder if Ty could sell him on this with the lengthen your career argument. Millsap would still close games for you.
I wonder if Thomas Thibreadough could draw up a defensive schematic in which Millsap could play SF for six minutes a game (in most cases)? The reason is because if this were possible (via the modest reduction of his defense responsibilities and the subsequent correction in the schematic), then Millsap, AJ, and Favors could all close games.
I realize it would take a master, but I still wonder if it could be done. The change would also create a nice mismatch on the offensive end, and if Millsap continues to stretch his range, then he might be very effective at that position. The front court passing would be beautiful.
Figuring out how to effectively distribute minutes between Al, Sap, and Favors is just a good problem to have. I trust in Ty to figure it out. As an added bonus, I think there's a way Okur can contribute next season, just not as a starter. The last remaining puzzle piece is a developmental big with size whose strength is D, not O, that can be used situationally.
