Our D is founded on rim protection. Of course he adds spacing, but you either have to pivot your defensive philosophy dramatically when he is on the floor, or accept a major drop in D when he is on the floor.

There will be match-ups where this works. That's why I put match-ups permitting in my post.

Just because the guy stayed in the GLeague doesn't mean he can't play. It made more sense for him to play 20+ minutes a night in the GLeague than play 2 minutes a night in the league.

I would be more likely to hope if I could have seen anything out of him. Admittedly it is a small sample size, and I am not a scout, but what I've seen I have not been hopeful. I think he has soft hands, and a decent shot (with a slow release) so I will the door open a little longer.

He will get a chance this season to prove if he's worth keeping. If he does, great. If he doesn't, we will move on. All I'm asking him to do is fill Udoh's shoes. If he does better, then that's great for us.

I disagree here. I don't think it was by design. At least not the second year. If your 1st round pick is having trouble getting ANY minutes in the NBA in his second season, I don't think that's by design. I think that's by him not being good enough...

That said, I'm not sure what future there is for a big who plays below the rim, is not explosive, and has no range. Who is the most successful NBA player who had those attributes?

I think Bradley's athleticism has been overly maligned. He isn't a leaper, but he moves pretty well laterally, and has a good second jump.

I think he can be a good midrange shot-maker. This playoffs is proving how important this part of the game is re-becoming. And I think he can make midrange shots from the most valuable place on the floor for a midrange shot: the baseline.

And I think he's a good rebounder.

I don't think we'll open the season with Bradley as our primary back-up C. But, if we move on from Favs, I do think he'll get a legit chance to prove himself.

Obviously there is no future if he doesn't get range. Size and athleticism is the same as Nikola Vucevic, who made his first all star game this year. Vuc had a better PER and RPM than Rudy Gobert this year! so he defenitely deserved his all star nod. Vuc started showing some mid range pretty early on though, age 22, so Bradley is going to have to show us something next year or most hope will be lost.

I'm not talking about him getting the Favors minutes. I'm talking about him getting the Udoh minutes. He's not good enough to take even them. This is not by design. This is by him not being good enough.

Why would the Jazz play him over Udoh? They signed Udoh to a 2 year deal to play him for 2 years while Bradley develops in the G-League. You might have missed it, but Udoh was one of the best defensive centers the past two seasons.

This is not about him not being "good enough". It's about a plan the Jazz are carrying out.

Exum and Bradley are the Core of the Jazz's future.

The stuff that is most troubling is the guys that see him in practice... like Andy Larsen basically lol when asked if he's ready for minutes. It isn't just about skill either Larsen was kind of critical about his mindset and self awareness. I don't see a diamond in the rough... I think he can be an nba player but just a super generic bench big is his ceiling to me. His hand seem good and I do think he moves pretty well for how big he is... his shooting is *** though and I think he will be an average defensive center at best... I think his ceiling is minute filling big... was such a strange pick.

Let me just go on record to say that I like Andy Larsen, a lot. But he's not God, and not all his takes are 100% correct.

That said, I think he's spot on about Bradley. Bradley is a marginal backup center and is not ready for major minutes on a team that has pretensions to compete/contend.

Bradley doesn’t have anything close to the skill or athleticism to survive today’s nba. His athleticism makes Jokic or Kanter look like a young KG or Amare.

For Bradley his ceiling is something around one of the Collins twins. Not good.

Add another to Lindsey’s ever expanding wasted pick list. .

Just out of curiosity, who are the GMs that nail every draft pick, including ones in the 20s?

Why would the Jazz play him over Udoh? They signed Udoh to a 2 year deal to play him for 2 years...

They signed Udoh AFTER they drafted Bradley (and saw him in practice and summer league). They also signed Udoh on a one-year guaranteed contract with a 2nd year team option. They then picked it up (after seeing Bradley some more).

None of how this has played out necessarily suggests that Bradley is good or that the Jazz believe in him. And no, I don't count them picking up an option at the beginning of the season that accounts to pocket-change as belief.

Besides, in what scenario does it makes sense to use a 1st round pick to draft a pure 5 with no hopes of playing? That's the scenario you laid out.
