First half of 2020-2021 schedule released

Looks really soft on the front end. Really soft.
 
I see a few tough back-to-backs: PHX/LAC at home, Bucks/Heat at home, plus a couple on a 7-game road trip. I wouldn't say it's soft.

Jazz should be about 24-13 or 25-12.
 
Pretty aggressive schedule - they play on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day - that has to be a first.

Probably a good thing - no partying.

I’ve been consistent saying we are better... we just threw every ounce of assets we had chasing one problem. If your car has a flat tire and you buy a new car you have solved the problem... maybe just not as efficiently as you could. So the I told you so folks probably should take note.

It also has the two edged sword of a fast good start might increase Mikes trade value but also emboldened DL to keep him... the Dante Exum trade value conundrum if you will.

I’m ready for basketball to hopefully provide some Valium and help me ignore the things we could have done better.
 
The reason why this team won't be a 55+ win team (in a normal year) escapes me, but I'm sure it's there. Something always goes wrong.

It’ll be interesting to see how we start. I’ve previously diagnosed some congenital in our slow starts, but maybe we have the conditions to overcome that this year?

EDIT: actually, I don’t see that as a particularly easy opening to the season.

It’s very easy to image that we start 2-3 or 3-2 before we head out on a 7-game road trip.

There’s no home stand longer than 2 games until January 19th. When you dip in for just one home game, that’s kinda like being on the road. In fact, besides a back-to-back at home on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day against Phoenix and the Clippers, there’s NOTHING BUT one game “home stands” until January 19th.

In other words, the travel schedule to start the season is pretty ****ing crazy. All during peak Covid, too.
 
Yeah I am just looking now, was wondering why people saying soft. I get teams the Jazz are facing aren't as tough compared to most every other year where it several playoff teams in a row. This start seems like a 50/50 split of playoff and non playoff teams but a crap ton of travel and as stated no real home stands.

I alright some one go compare that to every other team, break it down for each team and include miles travelled and frequency of travel and projected strength of opponent AND factoring in what the opponents schedule is like just before and after playing the Jazz. /GO

ESPN is projecting the Jazz as having the 5th toughest schedule over the 1st half due to the number of back-to-backs vs. opponent back-to-backs, the number of road games, and the teams we're playing.
 
Other than 2017 we always seem to come out flat and pick up steam later on in the year. If we actually want to make some noise they're gonna have to find a way to come out strong and be relatively consistent throughout the year. Gotta win 40 before losing 20 to be a contender (Phil Jackson)

Edit: Scratch that 2017, I thought I remembered us playing relatively consistent that year, but even early that year we struggled.

Q has never had a fast start.
