Following potential 2013 draftees

I still think a good move for the Jazz would be to trade with Dallas for #13, trade 14 + 21 for #9, and come away with the #9 and #13 picks in the draft. That would get us a decent PG and another starting-caliber player.

If the Jazz are looking at a bigger move than that, I would assume they'd trade a player + #14 to get a top 5 or 6 pick. Maybe that gets us Otto Porter or Trey Burke.

How do we trade for #13 without giving up a player? I think I missed something.

Dallas wants to move a contract off their books (probably Marion) so that they can pursue free agents this summer. They are offering #13 as a sweetner, but they'd want a couple 2nd round picks in return. Basically Marion + 13 for cap space + a couple 2nd-round picks.

Doing this deal eliminates a potential competitor for a player we like at #14, and it frees us up to trade #14 and 21 to get into McCollum range.

Hence we come away with McCollum/Burke/Bazz with the higher pick and Schroeder/Giannis/Olynyk with the other.

That's an A+ draft from any perspective.

personally I would rather switch pick with okc then use picks to move up to 9

Love it.

I would maybe trade Burks and #14 for McCollum. Im about 85% sure i would.

No thanks, not willing to give up on Burks just yet.

I would hate for him to go to another team willing to give me PT to develop and really regret letting him go.

#14 pick this year will be decent decent decent.
