I've been periodically checking in on this thread and welcome anybody's thoughts about my view:
Marcus Smart sounds like he would fit with what the Jazz are trying to build almost perfectly: he's big, tough, coachable, a great leader/character, a good athlete, takes pride in defense, an excellent rebounder, a good passer, skilled (if not yet fully polished) as a PG. His shooting isn't good yet, but it sounds like it very well could come around during his first few NBA years, while he also develops his floor generalship.
One of my dream scenarios would be to draft him and let him develop behind Mo (or someone like Calderon), who'd be given a 2-3 year contract.
He's approximately a year younger than Kabongo, a year and a half younger than Burke, and two and a half years younger than Carter-Williams. I could see the Jazz falling in love. I could easily see him as as excellent long-term PG for us.
Unfortunately, he's very unlikely to be in our range. If by some miracle, we got an additional first-rounder in the #10 range from some sort of trade, do you think our 3 picks could be flipped for him? Would it be worth it?
