Following potential 2013 draftees

If Smart, Burke, and McCollum are all gone before we draft, I'd much rather take a big like WCS, Olynyk, or Austin than MCW. Yes, we need a young PG badly. Very badly. But, MCW is so iffy, and we'll also need back up bigs with Al and Sap leaving this offseason. I like the three bigs I named much better as potential third bigs than I do MCW as a potential starting PG.

pkm can you give us a rough top 15 or so based on your talks with scouts?

The scouts don't tell me how they rank the players.. it's more of a 'this is what I think about this player or that player'.. my ranking would be my best guess based on the conversations of a small number of scouts and small sampling of teams.. but I'll give you my opinion, fwliw.

what i want to know is what are the scouts saying about Burke?

Everyone is high on Burke for this draft. Not a single scout thinks this draft, as a whole, is worth much.. but I'd put him around 10 on the BPA lists.

Burke will be gone by 12. He's more ready than MCW.

Yes.

That's true..

But if you can fix his shooting & handle, I think he has a lot of upside. His dribble & dish game is already pretty decent because he can finish at the rim and defenders have to respect that. If he can knock down that 3's at around 36-37% rate, he could be pretty good.

He's much more of a project than Burke, but if you're patient, he could be pretty good. May be a late bloomer like Bledsoe?

Romantic notion, but dangerous. Horny is not a miracle worker. Take a guy that plays with poise over a guy you hope learns to shoot.. unless they are spectacular at most everything else.. I don't see MCW as the guy to roll the dice on.

PKM - at least Chad Ford agrees with you re Brad Stevens in his chat:

LOL.. makes me wonder how Corbin motivates our player.. hahaha..

NBA players only respect coaches that have WON.. know more than the player about tactical strategy.. and treat the players like a professional.. even when they're not quite deserving. The player will respond positively to that kind of coach and get better. I suspect the Jazz players think Ty is a cool guy that knows no more than they do.

Not according to those I've spoken with.. and only one was at all down on taking him.. but even he said the kid doesn't fall past 3.
I agree with you. As much as I am concerned with his attitude and his entourage, he is one top three players players in draft.

Jazz need to do everything within reason to get Burke, but it probably won't work. I don't feel half as good about another PG in this draft, to the point that PG might just have to continue to be a positional nightmare for the Jazz, so just build a logjam somewhere else and hope the universe bails them out somehow.

BTW, am I ****ing invisible? Nobody's gone on more Stevens hard-on diatribes than me. Not that that's important.

As far as the BPA list goes, it really does seem Burke is out of reach. Our only hope ff him dropping is by other lottery teams passing on him because they like their current PG better.

Please, let us pick before Dallas.

Yes. I have seen you say good things about Stevens. I also agree about Burke.. take him or BPA.

what I am hearing about McW shooting is that his shot isn't broken just needs some refining.

I am still big on McCollum just because of his scoring. I could see him bringing the ball up passing it to Hayward or burks and they initiate the offense and McCollum becomes a scoring threat. it gives him a chance to feel the defender and attack or kick.

brad Stevens sounds like a good coach.
