Yeah, they are. Darren Collison, Patrick Patterson, Anthony Randolph, Ryan Anderson, Al Thornton, Daquan Cook, Ronnie Brewer, Rajon Rondo, Nate Robinson. Those guys were all taken either 14 or 21. It is a common thing to get role players in that range. Very common.

Bolded guys are hardly considered role players anymore.

Lillard was projected as a second round pick for most of the season. Then workouts started and he moved up to 6 only because Portland made it known that they loved him (and it seemed like a reach). I'm guessing Schroeder moves up in similar fashion. Whether that is deserved or not. You can't project him right now.

You do realize at 14 in any draft, even the 2nd of Coming of Jesus Christ Draft (aka 2014), the odds are still heavily against you to get a role player at 14 and especially against you at 21?

What? Not if you draft well. This is a a draft lacking stars, but there are plenty of role players to be had.

FWIW, of the 20 #21 picks drafted between 1989 and 2008, 16 played beyond their 4th year.
