Following potential 2013 draftees

the biggest thing about defense is desire. forms can be taught, such as moving your feet keeping you butt down hands up. sure the more athletic have a small advantage but someone that has the desire and fire to guard can do wonders any where.

another big part of defense is knowledge. knowing how to close out, position your feet, reading body language, help defense and rotations, and just watching tape and knowing your assignment.

you don't have to block shots or steal the ball to be a good defender.

Guys.. not sure why this is such a big deal. All I'm trying to say is I'd rather err on the side of caution when looking guys who I don't think will be athletic enough to survive the grueling NBA physicality.

Case in point is Jimmer. Lacking athleticism, vision and passing, I doubt he'll ever be more than a 2nd string PG - and that is such a waste when you picked him in the lotto.

Jimmer played bad defense in college.

I'm not saying let's call this guy a good defender, I'm just saying be 100% honest when discussing him and don't throw out information that is going to mislead people.

May he be a bad defender in the NBA? Very possible, and if I had to bet, I would bet that he won't be a very good defender. To say that he is a bad defender though (and not give any context that he has actually performed well defensively thus far, but against limited competition) is wrong and it spreads false information.

In the end it's all about loving God though. If you love God you play good defense. Wolters looks like he loves God.

to be honest I saw good defense against Michigan and that was good competition. hell Burke is going to be a top 5 pick.

You're starting to get it. Well done. Rep'd.

Analyses say that Wolters has to give space to PGs in his **** league, using his size to make up for what his feet can't do. That sounds like a guilty charge.

The knock on Hay coming out was about him being a tweener. Those were serious charges, and would have likely been correct without lots of hard work.
