Following potential 2015 draftees

I would package Exum in a deal to get Russell, tbh. He is the guy that we need, someone who can go out and get buckets every game, someone we can rely on to score. Exum isn't that guy, atleast for now.

This question came up earlier in the thread... I was for it at that time, but have since reconsidered. I think a big part of our amazing defense is Exum. He doesn't get a ton of steals but his positional defense is elite. I haven't watched any Jazz player that I can remember that just stays in front of everyone. He has figured out how to use his quickness on defense... if he figures it out on offense its over. Who knows if he will? He needs time.

I think we would also have to add significant assets to Exum to get D' Angelo. It would likely cost us Exum, #12 2015 pick, unprotected 2016 pick, and the GSW pick. Even then certain teams wouldn't do it... some might. We would have to pay a premium and I'm not sure we should.

I would agree. My conflicting thought is that we seem to be building a "system" that Exum looks to fit in well with. I think his offense will make big strides with improved strength and confidence, and his length/quickness makes him so good defensively. I think he could be a terror on D.

Let's just win the lotto so we don't have to choose between the two.

I just think the Jazz lack someone who can just flat out score and be relied on every night.

Gordon is good enough with the defense that we have. Another year of development of the young guys and change some of the D League guys for better players and we should be fine on offense. Gordon can get a shot when we need one.

Here are your upset specials for probably undrafted rookie free agents. Last night I was driving home after work on Sports Talk Radio they had the College of Idaho hoops coach on talking about the season that just concluded. This is an NAIA school that did win 30 games. The coach was an assistant at UCLA under Howland and he talks that he has four guys he thinks could play in the NBA. The four are: Marko Kovacevic 6'11" 225 from Coatia who played for Krysko at Utah. He was compared to Kevin Love by this guy and he was at UCLA when Love was there. Joe Vaz 7'1" 265 who a couple of years ago led California JCs in rebounding and blocked shots and shot .775 from the foul line, a point guard Josh Wilson was an NAIA all american as a PG and Demetrius Perkins a 2-3 who was second team All American NAIA. Wilson and Perksin are from So. Cal and the juco ranks there. I wouldn't waste a draft pick on these guys but they might be summer league fodder. This is even more bottom trolling than your DLeague prospect of the week.

I don't think the Jazz FO would trade Exum for Russell. They viewed him as their future star, and I think they still have faith that he'll get there.

Why would we trade Exum? As a rookie he's a huge part of our defensive fortitude! It would be foolish and short sided to trade him already. He's going to improve people, be patient. In the words of the great Aaron Rodgers, "R-E-L-A-X."

I think they might consider it if it were straight up, but doubt they'd add any assets along with him (which is what it would likely take). I hope the FO at least attempts to throw everything outside of Exum, Hayward, Favors, & Gobert at whichever team ends up picking #3 (assuming Russell is still on the board). I wouldn't hesitate to trade (1 of) T.Burke/A.Burks/R.Hood/T.Booker, this year's pick, OKC, GSW, & a future 1st if it gave us a core of DE, D'AR, GH, DF, & RG moving forward. With a decent bench behind it, I could see that starting 5 compete for championships in the near future, given that DE & D'AR both turn into at least starting caliber players (which I see as the worst case scenario for both of them). That starting 5 could potentially provide everything you could possibly need to win a title. A pass 1st PG w great defense, an elite scoring SG, a do-it-all SF, a good offensive/great defensive PF, & an elite rim-protecting C. Probably just a pipedream at this point, but the more I dream about it, the more I'd be willing to give up anything & everything outside of the core 4 to make it happen. Even with a below-average bench, a team with that starting 5 could be a legitimate contender in a few years. Don't know if it would be financially possible to keep them together long enough for that to happen though, if they all develop into what is expected.

I suspect Dante is going to go to work this summer and we will see a changed player by Training Camp.

We just gotta pray for the luck of the Cavs.

I think Johnson and Hezonja are probably on a higher tier than Oubre and Winslow. Johnson was really impressive yesterday.

Will have to see how the tournament plays out though.

That Arizona Ohio State game is going to be fun. Johnson looked smooth and completely unfazed. I don't see any way he lasts past #8.

Who knows on Hezonja... I think Euros tend to fall a bit because of uncertainty. Thought Saric slipped too far last year. Contract status/attitude may have him slip a bit.
