Following potential 2015 draftees

I think to move up for Hezonja, the Jazz would have to give up a significant player. It seems unlikely to me. In the past, I thought we might be able to get there with Hood + our pick, but I'm not sure about that now, and I think the Jazz do like Hood. I was hoping the Jazz could end up at #10 in the lotto and trade up from there, but we screwed that opportunity for 1 or at most 2 meaningless wins.

I think the Jazz could strike a deal with the Heat (10) pretty readily. If the Pistons aren't enamoured with the player that falls to them at 8, the Jazz might be able to swing a deal there. I don't see a team passing on Hezonja for what the Jazz have to offer. Teams will probably be asking for Exum to get into the 5 - 7 range.

I actually don't think most teams are very high Exum. They'd probably want Hood more. Just my opinion though.

I think the a Jazz are high on him because they built a coaching and support staff with development in mind.

There are not many teams that have a staff like that in place.

He single-handedly had them in disarray. Having a player who can break the opposing defense makes all the difference. So far, we don't quite have that player yet. Hayward is close. As I look at the top half of the draft, I see the following:

ALL STAR POTENTIAL (overall upside): Towns, Okafor, Mudiay, Russell, Hezonja, maybe Turner, maybe Oubre.

POTENTIAL TO SCORE 40 PTS (scoring potential): Okafor, Mudiay, Russell, Hezonja, maybe Booker, Turner or Oubre on a good day.

Looney and Porzingis are difficult to peg. I don't see Looney being a great scorer in the NBA, but maybe something like a just-past-his-prime Luol Deng. Porzingis could be like the ideal complementary stretch-big, similar to Toni Kukoc.

The Jazz have talent at every position and can treat this draft like they're playing with house money. I think they'll go for a young athlete with upside. It's most likely we'll come away with one of: Porzingis (trade up), Turner, Looney, Oubre, or Lyles (if they're sold on his upside).

I think the Jazz will readily part with Trey, 12 and a future pick to move up. Miami is a trade target, since they're in win-now mode. It's fine to "overpay" if they believe in the player they're getting.

I wouldn't treat this draft like house money. These picks are really important. If there is a guy who has a really high upside and you are comfortable thinking you can get him there then go for it... But I wouldn't throw caution to the wind and just say let's take a big swing.

GS has 3 guys on their team on rookie deals that are contributing right now. It's a huge boost to their team because they are so cheap. They can get AI... They aren't strapped and have to give up assets to get rid of Lee. They were able to make other acquisitions that teams like the clippers couldn't.

Of the "high upside" guys that I think will be available only turner, Looney or Oubre make sense to me. I'm not sold on Looney at all... He was basically a rebound and putback guy. He made some threes but didn't shoot many. Many if the analytics guys look at free throw shooting to predict how good a shooter the guy will be. I believe looney was like 60%.

I don't see Frank as a low upside guy. I see him as a guy that can fill an immediate role and grow into a bigger one. He'd allow us to use our cap space in other areas.

If we are looking at the lyles, Portis, looney group I'd move down and get a future first for my troubles... Those guys will be there at 17ish.

But bargs went #1. Which means that before he was drafted and we learned he sucks, everyone thought he was the bomb.

None of us really know anything about any of these guys until they have been in the league for a long time.

You said you couldn't think of a player with Frank skillset that was a bust.
Bargs had a similar skillset (apparently a better skillset since he went #1) and I think he is a bust
