Following potential 2015 draftees

I'd say it's certain that Porzingis is going to be better than Favors offensively. He probably is already. The question is how well he can defend at the 4.

I disagree with that. Favors scores pretty well in the NBA right now, he scoring more point at a better percentage in the NBA than Porz is in Euro league. Favors is a better mid range player, better back to the basket player, better pick and roll player, better at slashing. Porz is probably a better 3pt shooter, although .35 is not that great. Maybe in the future he is better offensively but that is still a risk. He also isnt in the conversation for defense and never will be. He also is not the rebounder Favors is and probably never will be.

If the jazz were to pick up millsap we make the playoffs next year imo

That might be true. But we would be better next year if we kept Favors. Favors>Milsap and Porz. Also we would have to give up Booker who is a better backup than Porz would be the next couple years.

Also this trade has nothing to do with Milsap. You cant look at future moves to determine if this is a good trade. If we kept Favors and signed Milsap we would be better than if we drafted Porz and signed Milsap. We also cannot negotiate with Milsap until after the draft. So then you are just taking a huge risk for nothing in my opinion.

That's fair but in your previous post you acted as if the jazz simply trade favors for #4 (porz) and roll with that roster, miss the playoffs, lose Hayward, etc. Very doomsday worst case scenario-ish.

I believe if the jazz made the trade, they would not do another rebuild and would still try to add players and make the playoffs next year

Wow, I was not too familiar with McCullough until now. His highlights look really good. I like his length and athletic fluid game.

I have so many players I like in this draft. I hope we are able to get a 2nd first round pick.

If he comes back from his injury successfully, he could be one of the steals of the draft. He was projected as a lottery pick for a while before he got injured.

Fair enough, But I do think its a bad trade for the Jazz and I do think the FO would want nothing to do with that trade either. I could see us moving up in the draft but not with one of our starters. Come draft day if someone in one of the players Jazz have in Tier 1 or Tier 2 falls a few picks then maybe we cash in lots of draft picks, stashed players (not worth much right now) and maybe Burks or one of the scrubs on the end of the bench gets traded to move up.

Seems much more likely we trade our pick for a player than a player for a pick. FO has said they dont really want more rookies and had too many last year.

Here is an updated prediction for the draft.

1) Towns
2) Okafor
3) Russell
4) Porzingis
5) Hezonja (Hezonja and Porzingis could flip/flop)
6) Mudiay
7) Winslow or WCS
8) Winslow or Johnson
9) Booker
10) Johnson or WCS
11) Turner or Payne (Turner apparently outplayed Kaminsky in a head-to-head workout)
12) Turner, Oubre, Looney or Lyles (for the Knicks)
13) Turner, Oubre, Looney or Lyles (for the Knicks)

Either the Jazz or Suns will make a deal with the Knicks for #4. I'm still guessing the Knicks want Favors.

The Jazz could also make a deal with the Hornets at 9 to take their choice of Oubre, Turner or Looney before the Heat and Pacers draft.
U actually think the Jazz would trade Favors for either of those players. Wow!!
It was the Jazz that offered Favors + 5 for Wiggins last year? Or Cleveland approached the Jazz?
That's not even close to the same situation. Favors wasn't even near as established as he is now. Also we are talking about Wiggins.
If the Knicks draft Porzingis at #4, I'll say there's a 40% - 50% chance it's for the Jazz.

If they draft WCS, Hezonja or WCS, I'll say it's likely they're keeping the pick.

Chad Ford thinks they should just take Porzingis and be happy.
Lol. No. Your wild assertions are becoming out of control
I agree it's a risky move, but not as preposterous as you've described. The Jazz are still developing Exum and Gobert for the next year or two. Porzingis is almost exactly the same age as Exum. The Jazz can bring in other vets via free agency to help them make the playoffs this year, but the time window the Jazz are rebuilding for is still a couple years out, by virtue of the PG situation alone. The Jazz don't want to be a #6 or #5 seed. They want to compete for the top echelon of the conference.

Where's Hayward going to go? Boston? Clippers?
Ummm. Ok. U do realize we were winning at a 50+ wins total after the Kanter trade and Exum being upgraded to our full time starter.

We are a team that is coming off a long rebuild process. U really expect us to contend in year one of making the playoffs?
I'd say it's certain that Porzingis is going to be better than Favors offensively. He probably is already. The question is how well he can defend at the 4.
Lol. U are on fire tonight. Porz is and probably will never be on Favors level offensively. And Favors will be even more improved this coming year. He will probably be a knockdown shooter from 20 and he wants to add a three point shot from what I hear.

I was listening to one of Locke's podcasts from this week and he mentioned that the 11-15 draft position has the least amount of all stars and rotation players, which was news to me. The reason makes sense, since the people from 11-15 are in the tier below the more "sure things," so teams try to go for home run high upside picks and miss. Therefore, people who are drafted 15 and below have more of a chance to be starters and rotation players.

Here are the people in that group that I think have good, long careers: Portis, Grant, Looney (projected 20 by DX), RHJ, McCullough, Wright.

Also, generally 2 people in the top 10 bust. This may make me look stupid later, but I think Winslow is going to bust. He played best at Duke as a small-ball 4, and I don't think he is big enough for that in the NBA, and depending on what team he goes to he probably won't play the 4 much. I also think his high 3pt% is probably flukey, and if it is, that is big time trouble for him. His mechanics look off and his free throw shooting is poor, and I don't think he can shoot off the dribble. I think he bullies his way inside and he won't be able to do that at the next level. Disclaimer: I'm a bit biased against Duke players

I don't necessarily think D'Angelo Russell will bust, but I don't think he will be an elite 3 point shooter in the NBA, and I worry about his defense and athleticism. I guess I'm not nearly as high on him as others are. I definitely wouldn't trade Favors for him.

No way is Porz better than Favors offensively right now. You think Porz could average 16 ppg on 53% shooting as a rookie?

I don't think it's that likely that the jazz will trade up, if there is a trade it will be trading down and picking up a few pieces. The Jazz are in a prime area where we don't have a need and we can just pick the best prospect on the board.

I would say our need is simply shooting.
