Talks on opening the NBA’s transaction window — trades, contract opt-ins and outs, etc. — are progressing toward firming a date two or three days prior to the November 18 draft, sources tell ESPN.

The NBA and NBPA have reached agreement on an amended CBA, sources tell

and me. Free agency begins at 6 PM on Nov. 20, with signings allowed at 12:01 PM on Nov. 22.

Among NBPA player reps on tonight’s call, there was some curiosity about starting free agency prior to Nov. 18 Draft, sources tell ESPN. For a few reasons, it isn’t possible under these circumstances. However, it is an idea that's had some support among teams in ordinary times.


So if I am reading the top tweet correctly FREE AGENCY could start on the 15th?
 
Owners and small markets kinda got boned here. Players did much better than I would have thought.

Salaries weren’t prorated for games played... luxury tax will be prorated based on how far it falls short of original levels. Favors GS Brooklyn Philly Boston.

Yes and no... since there is no gate money all the money is TV money. So teams with bigger local tv deals might have more spending power as they are less reliant on gate. Teams in bigger markets have better tv deals.

The tax teams caught a break especially those deep in the tax. The non-proration of salaries is huge on the players side. They could have reduced salaries by 12% across the board and been totally justified imo. Thats like 300-400M. I'm just surprised at how good a deal the players got.

Either way... basketball is back and I'm here for it.

That decision really does ease some worries from teams like Philly and GS. I don't think they are going to be sellers as much due to this decision.

I'm glad it's back. I hope our FO is ready because it's going to be a hectic few weeks.
 
I thought there would be a much bigger thread/response to this then the responses in this thread so far.

Unless we trade Conley I highly doubt we see any real movement for a little while. I wonder what the plans with Niang and Bradley are?

Trading for Conley was stupid. Now the jazz are locked into a below average player making the most money on the team and they have no salary cap room. Just pray they can re-sign Clarkson or the Jazz are looking at being the 8 seed next year.

Conley and #23 for Fournier and Gordon? The money is almost exactly even.

For Orlando, they shed Gordon's deal and get a pick.

For us, we add some depth. Fournier is a great shooter and Rudy's buddy. Gordon could become good, but that not happening in Orlando.
