Free Agent Rumors Thread

Thanks for making my point, Everyone of those teams regretted give those guys max money. The only one who deserved it was Amare and that is only if they had given it to before he got hurt. They gave it to him AFTER. You can't stop stupid.

Ya Amare might of deserved it but the Suns knew his injury history and knew he wasn't worth it.

Your welcome :) But ya I don't understand how people can defend spending that much money on Hayward. Somehow it doesn't effect the team............

It was more than just blowing in the guys ear. He has gotten in fights with teammates and done other things. Once a knucklehead always a knucklehead. He doesn't chuck all the time but there were several times where he just started going one on one completely ignoring his teammates.
Dude used a low number of possessions on his team, and the possessions he used frequently ended in an assist. Dude is anything but a chucker. Seriously.

I can understand why people don't want Lance because of his attitude, but the dude continued to compete when his team was struggling. I'd rather take on that risk at ~$10mm than sign Gordo for $13mm+. The team needs some physicality/competitiveness, even if it comes with a little crazy. Throw Quin into the fire.

Bill B. also signed Aaron Hernandez. So no matter how good a coach you are some guys are just not worth the trouble. FYI - no saying Lance is as bad as Aaron.
Hernandez was totally worth the trouble. Youngest active player in the NFL as a rookie, Pro Bowler that helped lead the team to the Super Bowl in his second season, productive when healthy in his third season (Pats in AFC Championship game). Lance probably isn't going to kill anyone.

Max money is for...........
Eric Gordon
Rudy Gay
Carlos Boozer
Rashard Lewis
Gilbert Arenas
Joe Johnson
Amare Stoudemire
Mistakes.

We should learn from the mistakes imo

Looks like Melo is heading to Houston. In my opinion, the Rockets cannot possibly keep Parsons if this happens unless they try something crazy. Last year he was paid only $900k, because cheap Morey elected not to sign him to a contract he much deserved. Parson asked for a raise multiple times, but got rejected each time. He really needs money. Something the Jazz can provide with the cap space available?

I'd say he is an upgrade over Hayward. Extremely smart team player with great passing and rebounding. He can do it all actually. Can be a great #2 or #3 guy.

Parsons cap hold is only $1.8mm. The Rockets can clear the space for Melo, sign Melo, and then sign Parsons for any amount up to the max, regardless of how far above the cap it takes them. Parsons is only leaving if he signs an offer sheet before the Rockets figure out how to clear space and sign someone else.

Thanks for clearing up the salary cap thing. I also wanted to say Parsons may decline the Rockets' offer. It's the same salary-cap-wise if the Rockets match the offer he agreed to?

He's a restricted free agent, so the Rockets can match any offer sheet he signs with another team. Parsons has no say in the matter. The Rockets can also just sign him themselves for any amount up to the max. Before he signs an offer sheet or new contract, he counts about $1.8mm against Houston's cap.

Yeah OK - but there are luxury tax implications aren't there? Aren't they already tied up with Harden and Howard? With Mello and Parsons signed to MAX or near MAX, I can imagine luxury tax would hit them pretty hard over the next 2-3 years.

Houston also said they have a deal in place to unload Lin if 'Melo signs. I don't think they're over the tax with Howard, 'Melo and Harden as their big three and then Parsons for $10M. They've already dumped Asik. After Lin, everyone else is cheap. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the deal to dump Lin is with Utah. We're the only team with cap space that isnt really looking to use it. Oh, take that back...Philly might be the team.

and? They'd obviously only do this if they're willing to pay the tax.

With Miami falling apart and San Antonio getting old (for the past 7 seasons...), Houston becomes a real contender.

That's a big payroll already - don't forget Miami was able to attract a lot of players wanting to play for cheap to get the rings.

HOU aren't guaranteed a ring yet as long as Spurs are still there not to mention a healthy OKC in the West and surging young teams like POR and GSW - so don't think they can fill up their bench with quality vets cheaply just yet.
