Game Of Thrones

So is it cool at this point if we discuss S1-7 without spoilers?

Some of the plot stuff that drove me nuts ended up turning out well for the storyline but it was still eyerolling.

Tyrion's champion dying. Watching that, you knew exactly what was going to happen. Typical scene where the underdog takes a dominating position only to wait to long and get stabbed, then head exploded. It worked out well for the story but the way it was done was just stupid. Ok fight scene though I guess.

The religious fanatics stuff. Again, worked out well for the story but it was complete trash. Jeffrey dies, the Hand follows suit and suddenly the royalty loses all power for poorly explained/set up reason? Just stupid. Here, let's insert religion and change the power structure completely in one or two episodes. And the audience can guess exactly where it leads with Cersei's manipulation leaving her coming out on top. And then she has a nun serially raped as her revenge. OK, I have to admit I was rooting for Cersei there for some odd reason, but still.
As for the religious fanatic stuff, it worked much better in the books.

There were whispers of it long before it took hold. The main characters would run across "sparrows" as they traveled. People who had lost everything, whose villages had been destroyed during the wars. The book does a far better job painting the bleak picture of destruction the wars have caused throughout Westeros. It's fall and most of the food has been used to feed the armies, yet "winter is coming" and there's nothing left. Where the show hints at this, the book punches you in the face with it, over and over. The situation is bleak. The sparrows start in ones and twos, then become droves.

It plays so much better in the books.

I could have used a few murders, always like a few murders...
We're not talking about Saturday night, we're taking about the walking de...I mean game of thrones.

Tonight's episode was rough seeing all these little moments between a bunch of characters you know aren't going to make it through the next one.

I thought it was pretty good episode. The fact that the crypts were mentioned a couple of times over and over again this episode makes me think that they will all die and get turned to walkers in there. The main thing holding this episode back for me is that I am getting flashbacks to the last season of Lost were every episode in the last season that goes by is another you realize that there are too many questions to answer and too many things built up and established in the story to have a satisfying conclusions with all of them. Nymeria, anyone?
