Yeah but if you miss the shot and have the good fortune to get an offensive rebound, you're still back to square one. And if you MAKE the shot, the best shooting team in NBA history has time on the clock? I don't know. I'm not a coach, but the downsides seems to greatly outweigh the upsides on throwing up an off-the-dribble three with less than 24 seconds on the clock but more than enough for the opponent to get a pretty good shot of their own off.I believe they said the strategy was to take the first good open shot, then if it misses you have another chance. I think that is a pretty common strategy. They wanted to get to Hay but couldn't, Rodney got a clean look and fired. There was a good chance to get that rebound with 3-4 seconds left for another chance. You can disagree, but it is not a bad strategy. Don't think Hood was trying to be the hero, just going with the plan.
