George Hill wants an extension. Need capologists in here

I can't see Hill's contract being renegotiated unless we trade away Burks. And doing so is a little bit risky at this point when we have yet to see Burks play with this rendition of our team, along with seeing if Hill will return to his Indy-level of play after Hayward returns (keep in mind he also put up some great stats while George was out with injury).


We're lucky to have until February to work this out. If All-star voting was held today, George Hill would be an all-star. He's had an unbelievable start to the season. We could honestly be 0-5 without him at this point.

I think Utah holds steady for a couple months now that they know Hill is open to discussing it. The FO will want to see if his play holds steady or declines. That will also give them time to feel out Burks recovery and time frames.

If what we have seen so far of Burks and Hill's play is what we get I'd absolutely trade Burks and sign/extend Hill. I like Burks but Hill has been amazing. Let's see if that holds up.

Extending Hill now would be foolish. His play will regress at some point, and his numbers will drop when Hayward comes back.

I'm all for it. Our weakness has always been at point guard ever since D-Will left. With our glut of wing players, I'd be willing to ship off Burks or Johnson to make room to retain Hill.

The Hill acquisition as a whole reminds me of the Lowry to Toronto situation a few years ago. Lowry was a borderline starter/not a special player before he went to Toronto, then when he became a Raptor, he suddenly became an All-Star and one of the top guards in the league, leading Toronto to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance.

I think Hill plays smarter basketball than Lowry, and he's just as good (maybe better) on the defensive end. Hill could have a shot at the All-Star team if he keeps putting up good numbers (19-23 PPG, 5 APG). I expect his usage to drop a bit when Hayward returns, but there's absolutely no reason to think that the two couldn't co-exist.

I think Hill is the exact point guard that Snyder has been looking for, and the only reason we shouldn't resign him is if CP3 suddenly wants to be a Jazzman this upcoming summer.

Early in the season, but obviously he is playing well and if he keeps it up he would be very deserving.

Things to consider: He'll need starting PG money (obviously) so Exum will not be taking starting reigns anytime soon if this happens.

Favors needs and extension too.

If he reaches free agency we will likely get outbid.


I don't know cap ****, I think we are currently $12.8 million under.

Sure I'll get slammed for this, but my hunch is that the Jazz go with Lyles over Favors long-term. They trade Favors after they re-sign Gordon. Lock in Hill and Hood.

Don't know the exact date, I can tell you for sure If Hill wishes to gouge for top dollar signing an Extension now isn't the best way to do that.

If I'm correct, the incentive for Hill to sign an extension would be to make another $10 million or so on this year of his contract, because the Jazz have cap space. What other teams are going to be in the market for a PG like Hill? Most teams seem to have their PG situation settled.

I mean.. The 76ers would be wise to put in a crazy overbid for Hill right? There's suitors out there..

That is the incentive, I just think as the days pass it seems more unlikely -- Maybe they're waiting for the trade deadline to pass, if the FO was looking for positive signals to 'hit the gas' i'd imagine the team has performed up to those standards - I'm kinda hoping for more quality reinforcements off the bench...

Got it. It makes complete sense for the Jazz to wait until after the trade deadline to get a deal done then.

The deadline to sign an extension is when they become a free agent. They can agree to extension anytime before then.

He will get re-signed, an extension won't happen.
