GLeague Chit

Cody and Flip were recalled from the Stars. I assume this means they are going with the Jazz to Portland as the Stars play two games in two nights in Indiana after Christmas. Let's play both a lot of minutes Will. Time to get the tank back on its proper tracks.

The overmatched Stars get punked by the Pacer JVs and Jahlil Okafor. No Oscar tonight and no rooks or Potter and the Stars got pounded on the boards. Davy Jones was the leading scorer with 27 but only had four in the 2nd half. Double doubles for Abmas and Kinsey. Same two teams tomorrow.

The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, have acquired guard Dereon Seabron from the Motor City Cruise in exchange for the returning player rights of Romeo Langford and a 2026 future first round draft pick. Seabron (6-5, 180, N.C. State) owns two years of NBA experience on a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans (2022-24), before joining the Motor City Cruise in October.
The Norfolk, Va., native appeared in 11 games for the Pelicans as a Two-Way, posting an NBA career high nine-points, along with three rebounds and one assist, against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Nov. 8, 2023. Seabron joins the Stars most recently from the Motor City Cruise, the official G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, where he played a total of 16 games, averaging 10.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 28.1 minutes per game. The guard spent 27 games with the Birmingham Squadron (New Orleans Pelicans affiliate) during the 2022-23 season, where he averaged a career-best 18.4 points, along with 5.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in 34.5 minutes of action. During his two-year collegiate career at N.C. State (2020-22) he appeared in 56 games with 40 total starts, averaging 12.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. After averaging 17.3 points and 8.3 rebounds during the 2021-22 season, he was named ACC Most Improved Player and earned All-ACC Second Team honors.

I've been calling for a Seabron acquisition for years

Stars get blown out by 29. The new acquisition had 0 points and was -33 in the box. Oscar played tonight and had 16 points 17 boards. Babacar had a nice outing.

Josh Primo was waived by the Windy City Bulls. He was a lottery selection taken one pick after the legendary James Bouknight.

Elijah Harkless (6-3 pg) has replaced David Jones as the Jazz's third 3-way player now.

Jones didn't last long ...

Supposedly Harkless's greatest virtue is his defense, including full-court pressure. Wonder if the signing is largely to help Keyonte et al. get more practice at handling pressure.

The new hire had modest summer league stats for Clips: 7 ppg on 39% shooting. He played for three colleges with decent coaches at each one.

There is a flurry of activity right now involving two way players. Is there something in the CBA that is triggering this?

Stars with a road win vs the Clips JVs. Oscar with 19 points and 24 boards, Harkless the leading scorer and nice games by Kinsey and Seaborne. Former first round pick Kai Jones played for the Clips

Stars survive a 47 point output from Terrence Shannon Jr to defeat the Wolves JVs. Deron Seaborne and Elijah Harkless both scored over 30 with Max Abmas with 22. Oscar with 14 points and 14 boards.
