And yes, an article was written about Hood's nerves before games last year. He had this occasional problem since college. I doubt there is any medical answer, unless you want to have him on mood suppressors all the time. He says he reads certain Bible passages that help calm his nerves before the game.
In high school id get an erection when I got nervous before games. I'm glad as an adult that stopped happening.

Decent chance that he has anxiety-induced IBS (or something similar). It's hell. I understand why people like to joke about it, but the reality is that there are no simple fixes to the problem. Sometimes a low FODMAP diet (which is really restrictive) can help, but it's no guarantee.
Zoloft could be a relatively simple fix. I don't think he needs to worry about dietary changes at all. It's 100% mental.

There was a guy on my bball team who had the same problem. That's why they invented the power tuck. He never used it.

Ive never taken an anti-depressant like zoloft, but I'd imagine it would not be something you want an athlete on.
It not infrequently causes GI upset.
It wouldn't have any effect on athletics in general.
