Gordon Hayward: Underdeveloped = Underrated

There is a reason why the Jazz didn't up their offer. They don't think he is worth that type of money. You can never underestimate the stupidity of other franchises, that doesn't mean the Jazz should act irrationally. If you don't believe he is worth the MAX then you shouldn't sign him to the MAX. Again, Hayward is replaceable. He isn't Malone.

It is funny how much crap Karl got for wanting the MAX and now there are more Jazz fans advocating for Hayward? Interesting?
Gordon Hayward is the most overhyped/overrated player in Jazz history. Can anyone dispute this? I just can't think of a player that's so revered for doing nothing exceptional. Honestly.

Repped

He's white, looks Mormon, and can sometimes dunk good.

If Hayward were black or had tattoos, fans wouldn't care whether he stayed or left.

Sorry, that's the elephant in the room.

Every time I think of Gordon Hayward, I think about him missing wide open jumpers and when they call time out, his slow, shoulders slumped, walk back to the bench like someone just ran over his dog. His numbers were greatly exaggerated because he played on a horrible team. AK averaged 16 ppg when he got his max deal and never sniffed it after that.

Look what happened in Phoenix. Their entire roster is held in higher regard after Hornacek changed the culture and play style.
The roster changed a great deal as well. They added another offensive hub (Bledsoe), a floor spacing big (Frye...making up for the loss in shooting going from Dudley to Bledsoe), and a decent rim protector (Plumlee) to their starting lineup. Marcus Morris was healthy (the Morris twins were also one year further along in their development/maturation), and Gerald Green was freed from Frank Vogel and his incredible ability to make every bench player look like **** (seriously...every reserve who left Indiana played 10x better and every reserve who arrived in Indiana far worse this past season).

So you defend Corbin all season for his brilliance. And now you condemn him for the way he used Hayward?
.
Off topic I just noticed that swear words show up when I quote somebody who used them. Sorry. It was just interesting to me.

Pretty much the entire website outside a few hairlips like yourself wanted Hayward to be used in a role he couldn't play. Then the season got going and you weak stomached hacks started your typical bitching about it all.

Weaknesses:

# Struggled as Utah's go to scorer in the half court.

# 18.2 pts. per 40 adj, 15th among small forwards who played 30 + minutes.

# 45.3% on 2 pointers, 24th among 29 small forwards who played 30 + minutes.

# Average first step, struggles to turn the corner and limited shake.

# Really struggles on catch and shoot.

# He has already shot 30% or less in 2 of his full seasons from the 3 point line.

#Lacks the athleticism, strength and length to guard small forwards.

# Foot speed is average. Struggles against quicker wings.

# Lacks the strength to keep bigger wings out of the paint.

#Unable to bother jump shooters due to short wingspan.

And we want to pay anywhere near max for this? Unbelievable! Without his height advantage playing him at shooting guard, he lacks what it takes to be anywhere near a max player.

A: That 1st line says I'm one of the only ones that did not want him used in a role he couldn't play. You are correct there. I wanted him to show what he was capable of being. I figured this was his year to put up or shut up. He played reasonably well in spurts. But showed no ability to be a #1. His role should have been adjusted as the season went along and wasn't.
.
b: I defended Hayward on numerous occasions as I think he took far more blame than he deserved. He was being asked to run an offense designed by a moran. Can't expect good numbers when put in that situation. I don't think I bitched about Hayward at all, If I did it was about a particularly bad game. My entire complaint about last season was directed squarely at the pathetic coaching staff.
.
None of that means he should in any way get a max contract. A player worth a max contract would not play like he did regardless of the ****ty coach. He still doesn't have an elite NBA skill and has done nothing close to deserving a max contract. On top of that he's shown troubling signs of being mentally weak. That in and of itself should stop teams from giving him a Max Contract.

Sounds like a max guy to me!

I don't see value in Hayward at anywhere close to what the Jazz allegedly offered him last summer, let alone these Cle rumors. He's an absolute stud as a fourth option, waste of money as a third (thinking Wade or Bosh as a third and putting Hayward in their category is such a reach I cannot understand why anyone would want to bank on it).

And how many teams actually have a Wade or Bosh level player as the #3 besides the Heat? Maybe the Spurs with Manu or the Thunder?
Peoples comps with Hayward are way off.
