Size and mass are not the same. Mass and weight are not the same. Mass is a factor of volume and density of an object. Weight is a factor of mass and gravity.

I always though of density as being defined by mass and volume, not the other way around.

How did they determine the mass? He says it like it's some obvious thing "We know the weight because we can calculate it based on the mass" but neither is easier to determine and you'd generally use the same method to determine either one while standing still on planet earth.

I mean maybe he means they know the mass of granite so they are basing the weight on actual volumetric calculations... It was still a stupid thing for him to say IMHO.
Nah, dude. Just because you don't know it, doesn't make it stupid.

Graham definitely teaches and promotes pseudoscience, but he's still smarter and more educated on the pyramids than you and anyone you know.

You just posted something saying that because they know the WEIGHT of each block of granite they know how much the WEIGHT of the pyramid is.

To say we know the weight of the pyramid by calculating it based on the mass is still a stupid statement. He should have said we know the weight because we've counted all the granite blocks and know how much each of them weighs.

So, how do you measure mass, in a distinct manner from weight? I'm only aware of methods using acceleration.

Density = m/v so the answer would be m = V×D.

That said, you can start looking into it more on a quantum level too and throw in the theory of relativity and curvatures.

And that's only part of what makes the video stupid. The numerology is by far the stupidest part. The "What the media won't tell you" is a special code word to get stupid people interested in what you're about to say.

I meant to post the wiki link not the pbs one. I updated it.

Archie, I get the feeling you have some sort of ideas about what the Pyramids are all about or whatever. That's cool. It doesn't change the fact that the guy's simple statement was dumb and basically meaningless.

Why not? Something that is massive has to do with it's size, amirite?
Well, i would have got pretty low grade at school if the teacher would have asked "What is the approximate mass/weight of a car?" and i would have answered "well, it is about 4 square meters" instead "well, probably around 1,5 tons".
Or am i missing something in due that english is not my native language?
