HA! Kanter being shopped for cap space (for Horford)

Kanter is a good player, but he was useless in the playoffs. I will say I think we make the playoffs last year with him though.

And some thought Kanter would be a very tradeable asset because he's at the "old" max!

I don't know what size shoe you are, or if you've ever tried fitting it into your mouth, but you might wanna think about investing in a shoe horn.

Mozgov just got 4 years 64 million from Lakers(haha). This FA period is about to go bonkers, and next year will be even more nuts. As much as we hate Enes, that contract will be just fine, and yes, tradeable.

Ya I always hate hearing the argument of "who cares if we overpay someone or someone makes it hard to sign other guys because of a bad contract... We can simply trade them for good value whenever we want to later"

It isn't always so easy

Tradeable for what though? Do you think they will get good value back or it will be a salary dump?

makes sense.

Kanter is eating up quite a lot of cap space for a bench player. You don't just throw the max around to every player.

OKC had no choice though...Kanter made them better in some aspects, but I know they would dump him if any better options came back.

$18.5M (includes the trade kicker) for a player who had to be benched in the most important game in OKC's season. Every GM knows he's the worst defending big in the league. I'll be surprised if they can dump him. Plus, he can say no to any trade right now.

It's literally 15 and 7 for Horford compared to 13 and 8 for Kanter. And Horford plays 11 more mpg. Horford is the better player because he can defend. I don't see how anything I said was flawed logic. But whatevs. My main point was that them being able to sign Horford is unlikely.

Well ya see, he's good at passing, defense, spacing the court, not holding onto the ball, general basketball IQ.

Those are things that Kanter isn't just bad at, but awful at, sans spacing.

Yeah. If the Blazers really wanted him last year, you'd have to figure that they'd be banging the drum to acquire him now that they have cap space.

Still, that's a pretty expensive bluff. If that was their intent, I'd have loved it if OKC would have failed to match. Can you imagine the reaction in their war room? They go from laughing to crying.

Which is why I said Horford is a better player

People keep veering away from my main point though which was this rumor doesn't add up. The Thunder would need to move Kanter (which would be hard because of his no trade clause which is in effect until the 12th) plus Kyle Singler plus renouncing free agents and maybe trading a few others to outbid anyone for Horford. Which doesn't make sense when they just picked up Domantas Sabonis, and have Steven Adams already.

It's not like it would be that hard. If Horford tentatively agrees to go to OKC, which it sounds like will happen, and if OKC can get another team to agree to take on Kanter when July 12th hits, problem solved.

Except who is going to swallow Kanter's contract without a little candy coating? OKC doesn't really have any extra assets to dole out. They can't really include a draft pick as they have 2 outstanding.

I'm sure there's an incompetent GM somewhere that'll take him on out of desperation after whiffing on FA elsewhere

Horford will sign elsewhere long before July 12. Boston is already prepared to give him a max offer on his visit according to reports.
