What's new

Had to ask....

Yep, just his usual way of doing things. That's why it's hard to play Simmons in close games in the 4th and especially in the playoffs.

His rebound numbers are nice. How many were contested rebounds? Is he leading the league again this year for most uncontested rebounds like last year?
He goes for rebounds against his teammates. One day Embiid will punch him in the face.

Move on Simmons is much better. He's 6'10 runs like the wind. Does everything. Donovan is 6'2 relies on his shot. If his shots off Donovan is off.

Lol, does everything. I got a good laugh out of that.

Simmons doesnt do anything outside of the paint, thats not doing everything. Shooting is a pretty large chunk of the game. If you cant do that, you cant claim to do everything. There is a good reason he was unplayable in the 4th quarter in the playoffs last year against the Celtics. That trend will continue. Simmons has never taken over a game in the same fashion Mitchell has in the playoffs, and its unlikely he ever will.

I just looked up the numbers again. Simmons this year gets 7 of his very uncontested rebounds a game with 0 other players around. He gets 0.3 rebounds a game when 2 players are around. His rebounding stats are nothing to look at. His rebounding numbers are very deceitful, especially compared to others with similar rebounding numbers.

Simmons is an elite player in the open court. He is a liability in half court offense in close games.

Mitchell does have a jump shot and uses it. He doesnt rely on it. Any elite guard needs to shoot. He has 15.2 drives per game(7th best in the NBA, just behind Westbrook and ahead of Kemba) in comparison to Simmons who has 9 per game. Mitchell creates for himself and others. Simmons can create a little for others but he is much more dependent on the system to create and depends on the system more to create for himself. Simmons is assisted on 45% of his shots. Mitchell is only assisted on 23% of his shots.

If there's a day that Simmons becomes even just a respectable 3pt shooter (like 33% on 2 - 3 attempts a game), then I think the Mitchell vs Simmons debates are well and truly over unless Mitchell becomes a Curry/Harden-esque scorer efficiency wise.

well his FT% improved from .560 to .565.... that is definition of plateau.

are you being deliberately obtuse? FT attempts per game are up, FG percentage is up, rebounds are up, assists are identical... going by your own definition of plateau, Mitchell is also in the same boat. Someone posted up his stats from year 1 vs 2 the other day he was identical in most stats except a bit worse in shooting percentages...

The comment was in response to you claiming has stalled in development in comparison Mitchell, who you said has improved so much in year 2 you'd be blind to think otherwise.

this is the part you seem to have skipped over which was the start of our interaction, have a great day.

Its not all about stats. Simmons did not add anything to the game. Rebounds up does not impress me at all as he is stealing them from teammates and frankly for point guard that is not very important stat. FG up by tiny bit means nothing when he did not add any shot outside the paint. Watch his FG plumed down in playoffs same as last year when teams will start packing the paint and dare him shooting from outside.

What's his season 3pt%? Career? FT?

All I'm sayin, is if Philly's prioritizing Simmons over Butler, Butler's got a reason to complain.

Who cares though right? Not every player has the same skill set. Gobert has a great 3pt% as well - but he is a top 10 player.

A 5 yr max for Butler will be one of the most horrendous ones in 3 years I reckon

butler should shut his mouth. Simmons and Embiid are the priorities for the 76ers.
