Head Coach Jerry Sloan to resign today :(

I'm kind of glad that Larry Miller isn't around to see this (that doesn't mean I'm glad he's dead...you know what I mean.)

I've thought Jerry needed to go for quite some time, but not like this. Something dirty went down.

Greg Miller is so, so punchable. What a terrible liar.

Greg was sort of forced into that statement, because of the rumor mill that's been cranking for two months. To not address it at all, invites more rumors. To address it directly, also invites more rumors. There would be rumors regardless.

Jerry is rather defensive about some of these questions, and I can't blame him.

If Deron has forced Sloan out, I will no longer support Deron. Period. Stockton is 10 times the player Deron will ever be, and Stockton was always respectful of Sloan and never knifed Sloan in the back. I hope Deron has not forced this event. I hope he is not the ringleader in a player revolt. This kind of crap simply does not happen on the Jazz. We get rid of bad egg players, we don't get rid of the coach. I am so not happy about any of this.

How do you know this? Sorry but Stockton is not 10 times better either. No one knows what goes behind close doors. Neither do you know Stockton or DW personally so I think you are assuming a lot.

Come on press, ask him to reflect on his time, great memories, etc. Whats done is done. This is one of the last times you'll get to interview Jerry.

Someone please give me an example where Williams has command over the team and front office...
Good call Viny. I take Jerry at his word that players did not play a role in this. Jerry is pretty straight in his interviews. He made a good argument that he has always had disputes with players. I don't Dwill has been the worst of those.

Interested to hear the player interviews.

Driving home in Boston listening to this on my phone and trying not to crash cause my eyes are watering up...

In addition, Phil johnson is an amazing guy. Loyalty just doesn't exist like that anymore.

There's a difference between being "pushed-out" and not having full-support of management and ownership. Sloan's had players and teams turn on him before, and he can deal with that - but not if he doesn't have full support of the organization behind him. Sloan and Deron clashing at halftime isn't as big as Sloan and O'Connor afterward. Sloan knew what he was up against and realized he couldn't do his best in that situation - and he was right. Phil is as loyal an assistant and friend as one can have, and he wasn't going to take Jerry's seat (or look over Ty's shoulder) because he shares much of Sloan's coaching principles.

Sloan and Phil couldn't have been more classy or gracious in that press-conference. Personally it was hard enough for me to sit there and listen to Greg filibuster, and I can't imagine having to sit next go a guy who probably hasn't worked as hard in his entire life as Sloan has in one day and listen to him spout that stuff.

Jerry and Phil were two brilliant basketball minds and two even better people who the game of basketball will greatly miss.

Interesting that KOC said there were always 3 guys who wanted to win more than him when he got to the arena and 2 of them are there. Larry was the third, no mention of Greg's true desire to win like Larry's, Phil's and Jerry's.

I feel like I've lost a family member. I have criticized Sloan as much as anybody but this hurts down deep. Maybe it can be cured if the Jazz come out tomorrow and show us that they trust Ty and rattle off a few wins.
