While I like what Crowder provides on defence on offence he is nowhere near Hood. Kind of disappointed but understand why Jazz did it. Wish Rodney all the best.

Rodney mostly provided nothing or net negative play. Dude was wildly unreliable, also was a slow decision-maker and weak passer.

Those 30-point games against mostly bad teams he occasionally had and skewed his statistics were nice.

Why did we include cash in this trade?

Because we needed to make the numbers work as we sent out more salary than we got back, probably. Better cask than O'Neale or Jerebko.

My only beef with the trade is that we didn't get the draft pick instead of the Lakers. The Lakers got the best player that the Cavs traded PLUS exactly what they wanted in cap relief AND the even got a 1st round draft pick. That was a head scratcher. If the Kings got a 1st round pick and taking on Iman Shumpert's contract in exchange for George Hill, I would have said they had done well. But getting Isaiah Thomas, $23 million in cap relief, AND a draft pick for Larry's Nance and that american idol singer Jordan Clarkson... Smells like insider trading. Is Jerry West moving to LA again?

My hope is this won't be the case with Exum. Obviously, he and Mitchell can play together (and play together well) but I worry that Mitchell's meteoric rise will have Dante pressing to be viewed as a similar caliber player.

Pretty simple, he just needs to outplay Rubio.

For whatever is worth, IF Quin somehow manages to get Crowder close to his Boston days performance-wise, this would mean a cost-controlled rotational player for the next couple of years, as opposed to Hood who would get more than that. Tony Jones is also reporting that behind the scenes Hood and Jazz were really at odds with each other and the relationship had been broken for a while(I didn't know that) and the deal just had to happen. We don't really know what kind of deals were there on the table. I would have for certain preferred a first rounder than Crowder, but if no first rounder was being offered I guess this trade would be better than nothing or a second roudner.

Again, Rodney was an effective scorer in 1/4 to 1/3 of games. And in any of those games, he gives you very little of anything else statistically or intangibly.

I don't know how Crowder will gel/play, but if he's the guy he's been for most of his time in the NBA (before he was placed into a toxic situation that didn't allow him to play to his strengths), Crowder is a much better player for your W-L column. Missing games mysteriously and randomly - or not - also counts here.

Crowder wasn’t brought in to replace Hood’s offense. He’s a defensive stopper at the 3/4 and a stretch 4 - on a cheap contract if Favors leaves next offseason. Royce O’Neale (and maybe Burks) will be asked to shoulder more of the scoring load for the bench unit.

For what it’s worth, the Jazz are in a great spot financially and adding Crowder instead of extending Hood only enhances that aspect. Contract flexibility and the ability to clear the deck should provide a relatively easy pathway to creating space for a max contract to team with Rudy and Donovan anytime over the next three offseasons. That was likely the reason they went the way that they did.

I don't think we can fully evaluate the trade until we see what the Jazz do in free agency. With Hood, Johnson and Favors off the books, they can throw max money at Jabari or Aaron Gordon in free agency. In a tight FA market, the Jazz might be players.

After seeing all the data I'm good with the trade. We all want the sexy unprotected picks or fleecing deal that Lakers got earlier, but I get this deal.

Only issues now is starting... Hopefully we don't piss Crowder off by bringing him off the bench. I wish we found a good place for Favs so all the loose ends were tied up. Hopefully Jae gets it or Favs volunteers to come off the bench.

Also - Lets not **** on Hood on the way out... lets not boo the guy... lets root him on and wish him the best. Lets have CLASS. Not every guy that leaves is boo worthy like Fisher Kanter and Hayward... as a matter of fact lets cheer the eff out of him when he comes back into town.

This may make it more likely we try and bargain hunt with our MLE. We don't have functional space really at all. I think your starting lineup next year is Rubio, DM, Ingles, Crowder, Gobert... I think we try and sign a bench scorer like Will Barton, Wayne Ellington (a little old), Tyreke Evans with our MLE. We might also trade some of our unguaranteeds for bad salary to move up the draft board or get additional picks... or for a guy like Evan Fournier.
