What's new

Houston in talks with Kyrylo Fesenko.

Ummm, who else is out there that will come here can help against the Lakers. Secondly I think Fes did a much better job defensively than anybody else against their bigs. Particularly watch game 4. We are talking about signing a player for 2 mill or less.

I know and I get that the Jazz are hoping to sign him for $2M or less. I just disagree that he was a factor in the Lakers series. I think Amundson could have been a better player to match against the Lakers than Fesenko. Fes' total lack of offense offset anything he did on defense because it again allowed the Lakers to play 5 on 4. Could he give the Jazz effective spot minutes? Maybe. Am I holding my breath waiting for him to "get it" so he can be counted on? Absolutely not. But he has worked out hard this summer and might be a different player this season. Again. Just like last summer. And the summer before that.

And I would rather read a Hopper vs. One Brow thread than watch Game 4 of the Laker series again. I was there. I don't want to see it again.

It's really not my argument, Kicky. It's David Locke's. But it clearly looks like Kikcy> go4jazz > David Locke's opinion. It will be the last time I listen to his show, kicky showed me up lawyer style. I've said that Lash is Fes's agent. I don't think that's too far out there, do you? I mean, can you prove to me he's not? I mean, it's not like David Locke knows anything, right?

Archie, you are not wrong per se. Stu is a functioning agent and works with Fes and other players within Fegan's agency. I talk to Stu every couple of days. That said I also talk to Dan, albeit much more infrequently but we do talk and Dan does talk to KOC as well. Kicky's law firm analogy is dead on. You can't think of an agent as being only one individual, a la Jerry Maguire. Most of the time bigger entertainment stars and sports stars are represented by large agencies who bring together different synergies/opportunities for the players.

Does Stu talk to KOC? Yes. Does he talk to KOC more than Dan? Yes. Has Dan called KOC directly about Fes? Yes. Is it Dan's name on Fes' agent contract with Dan's signature at the bottom? Yes. That said Stu keeps everything together and moving so that the only thing Dan really has to do is make a few phone calls to KOC to negotiate.

OK, good post. I'll give it a rest now. + 1.

Just slap Locke in the head if you see him and tell him to quit throwing crap on the wall and hoping it sticks just to try and make himself look intelligent.

Jeditiger,

You already garnered less than zero respect but go ahead and google - angela wang ice skating and tell me and everyone else what you find.

It was a Simpson's reference you effing moron. Nice to see your IQ is as high as your BFF Fesenko's.

Glad you brought up Amundson, because he's a player that Utah even signed on a 10-day deal but then let him bounce elsewhere. He seemed to exhibit a "Sloan-like" effort on the court way back then, but he got almost no burn with the Jazz (1 game only)--yet another albeit minor example of players that don't get to prove or improve themselves on the hardwood when they play under Sloan.

You mentioned utter lack of offense, but Amundson averaged 9.5 PP30 last season vs. 9.4 for Fes, and 9.2 vs. 9.1 for each player's respective short career. Oh--and Amundson's +/- was negative on both a man-up and on-court/off-court basis. And he weighs 50 pounds less than Fes. And he's not much taller than Millsap. And he played mostly PF last year (alongside Amare). Fes fits Utah's needs better; if Utah wants to play a 6'9" defensive player at the 4, they can play AK or Evans.

In other words, yer hatin'.

BTW, Amundson landed a 2-year, $4.7 million deal with Golden State. If Fes is less valuable as you say, than $2 million per is reasonable.

The Jazz should pony up and sign Fesenko even if they plan on making a fat offer to Tomic next year. Fes would get some playing time with Okur out, put up respectable numbers, and be a highly tradeable asset at the deadline to any playoff team who may need to replace an injured center (Yao?). You can't teach 7'1 300 lbs. KOC has made more good moves than bad moves this off season, but choosing to sign Elson over Fesenko is just god awful.

Um, the QO is still on the table and can match any offer that Fes receives. Why "pony up" to pay him when we may be able to sign him on the cheap.
