When I ruptured both my Achilles tendons, I still had to go to work, because they weren’t paying me to not work. Nobody really gave a ****. And I made a lot less than Hayward (part of why I had to continue to go to work).
I feel awful for hayward....that leg break...

Some of us rooted for Hayward for 7 years and are still stuck in the "terrible fan" mindset of actually rooting for the guy. No not all season-ending injuries are the same. That had a specific brutality and shock factor to it that definitely leaves you a little more uneasy and unsure about the future for somebody who has succeeded so much. Obviously there's a lot more to say about this injury than X's so that comparison is a little off the mark.
Just cause he was in another jersey doesn't make anybody a "bad fan" for being very upset at what has happened to him. And no you're not a "bad fan" for not caring. You just got over rooting for him and accepted the bridge is burned. Some of us haven't and still want him to succeed, even in another jersey. It's ok.

So if Dante had averaged more points last year and had his injury in a televised game, then you'd feel as sorry. Awesome.

Good post. I won't go so far as to say I was going to root for him. But I don't wish him ill-will and do hope that he will make a full recovery.

Is that not what you said? That you felt worse about Hayward's injury because you got to see it on TV? And how else am I supposed to take "unsure about the future for somebody who has succeeded so much?" Are you not suggesting that because Hayward is a star, it makes a difference somehow?

Dante is on his 2nd serious injury while still on his rookie contract. And on his first injury, we had multiple so-called jazz fans mocking him and somewhat celebrating, saying we'd be a better team without him, including a moderator on this board. Meanwhile, Haywood is sitting on a mountain of cash 150 million deep, and has at least accomplished a few things, such as an all-star appearance.
You hit the nail on the head though, in that people got to see somebody's body being destroyed graphically, which in their minds, makes the injury all too realistic. With Dante, they didn't get to see his body being ripped apart, so it doesn't seem as real. Both injuries are just as serious, in that they will end the player's season.
But yeah, some people still care about Haywood more than Dante without a doubt, and although it doesn't make them a bad fan, it does make them a bad Jazz fan.
