What's new

I really don't like Romney.

I have a veteran friend in Virginia that does IT Networking as a civilian working on base. He travels one week a month to military bases/embassies to set up networks, troubleshoot, etc. The other 3 weeks he sits in his cubicle playing mine-sweep and surfing the internet. He has virtually no traditional education but did IT training in the military. He is paid over $100,000/year for his enormous contributions to our military/government.

I know a few people who work for the local government, they get paid more than teachers and cops to do jack diddly dick. Drive around all day and shoot the **** mainly. Its disgusting, but I am extremely jealous.

I'm trying to figure this out myself as well. If you are getting bullied in school, hit the gym or take a boxing class. Your house gets robbed, buy a better security system. Laptop keeps getting infected with viruses, invest in some anti-virus software.

What's the problem with this line of thinking?

But that's just it -- we're not being bullied. We're not getting robbed. We're not infected with viruses. I could give a rats *** about being "The Super Power" of the globe, or whatever the **** he's trying to say, but I do care about the rest of the world thinking we have an inferiority complex and therefore have to drive the jacked up truck, have to have two carat fake diamond earrings, botoxed eyes, lips, chin, and forehead. I know what I thought about tools like that when I was younger, and lo, life always seemed to turn out pretty rough for those tools. How about we just calm the **** down, stop trying to police the friggin world, and mind our own Gordon damn business?! (PBUH)

What would happen if Hill shuts down? YOu do know that gov. generates revenues from tax dollars. So for every program they shut down jobs are lost and if the private sector doesn't pick up those jobs we go further down the toilet bowl. So, instead of a slashing technique we need tax reform and hold those in the government to actually ask our federal employees to be productive.

I don't disagree with you.

I was merely pointing out to the hypocrisy that we see in politics today. We hear one side complain nonstop about government and how it needs to be limited/cut while at the same time defending bases that could easily be considered excessive/costly (like the Hill).

The military is one of those "untouchables" it seems like. It is never wasteful, hardly ever talked about, and the defense budget is rarely discussed on the chopping block. Not because of our national security, but because of jobs.

This shouldn't be. The #1 reason why we have the military is to defend ourselves.

So when Romney talks about increasing defense spending and using our military to "prevent wars" I won't pick up my pitch fork against him. Like I said before, Paul is the only candidate that seems to suggest the military could use some adjusting.

Neither Obama or Romney want to talk about the elephant in the room.

I completely agree. But, I think the idea of cuts to any type of civil jobs is absurd in the idea that we are going to save money. It is just going to create more chaos in the private sector and there aren't companies that are going to come to the rescue and hire all of those newly unemployed workers. What we need it slash our substaties of companies if we truly believe in a free market get government money out of the hands of big oil. We have to have tax reform for our businesses. Then increase taxes across the board but especially in the upper class.

But that's just it -- we're not being bullied. We're not getting robbed. We're not infected with viruses. (PBUH)

Looks like CCN is placing Arizona, Missouri, North Carolina and Indiana in the Romney camp. It is also placing Wisconsin in the Obama camp. That brings it to 247-206 with Nevada, Colorado, Ohio, Iowa, Virginia, Florida and New Hampshire in the toss up category. Obama has the edge as he needs less of those 7 states but it is still anybodys game.

I think tomorrow's gubernatorial recall election in WI will play a roll in which direction WI goes.

I think tomorrow's gubernatorial recall election in WI will play a roll in which direction WI goes.

If that is the case then it would move Wisconsin to the Romney camp as I think Walker is going to win. He is up about 7% right now.

That one state change would place Obama at 237 and Romney at 216 and give Romney much more breathing room. Will be an interesting race for sure.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Republican nominee Mitt Romney's guerrilla tactics continued Thursday, as the campaign bus circled the venue where President Barack Obama will be speaking this afternoon.
As it passed the assembled throngs of supporters awaiting entry to the event at Cuyahoga Community College, the bus honked its horn dozens of times, before circling around to do it again. Obama supporters jeered and booed each time the bus passed the line outside of the security screening area.

"Guerrilla tactics" seems a little extreme way of describing it, but I'm glad they are finding ways to have fun. Could you imagine being a roadie on a campaign? I couldn't think of anything I'd rather do less.

A source sends along this report, that the Democratic National Committee will deploy truth teams to cities along the Romney bus tour this weekend:

And even worse, you apparently would have to deal with whatever apparatchik brown nosing schmucks make up "truth teams" at every stop.

You are not worried about other countries attacking us, or causing problems of that nature, but you are worried what other countries think of us? You are worried they think we have an inferiority complex, and so because of that we should have less of a military?

Hey, I think you only go fishing and brag about it, and show pictures because you want to look cool and have an inferiority complex. You and your fancy fishing poles, gear, and botoxed floats, and pictures of fake fish you bought off of some local fisherman. You should stop "fishing" because I think this of you.

The point is, I understood him to be saying we should have a military to defend ourselves and our country. If you don't think we have a bulls eye on us, you are kidding yourself. The other countries out there that you want us to be like are falling apart, and couldn't defend themselves if someone seriously went after them. Yes we don't need to be the policemen of the world, but we should also be able to defend ourselves.... and in certain instances our friends. If you had a best friend getting his butt kicked by someone or a few people, would you not step in and do something about it? If you would not, then you are not really a friend.

That line about mind our own business, is just part of the apathy this country is turning into, a bunch of apathetic losers. Don't care about anything going on around me, unless it directly affects me. Just let other people around you do wrong things to other people, and do or say nothing about it because they are not doing them to you. Genius! That's why this country is turning to crap, too many people refusing to stand up for something for whatever reasons. It's too hard. We need to mind our own business. Or worse yet, pile on. The number of people that know how to work hard, and are ready to do something with their lives beyond their own entertainment is dropping rapidly.

No, I don't think reducing our military is going to solve our problems. I think our problems mainly lie elsewhere.

So many stupid things in your post, JazzSpazz, I thought seriously of just letting it go knowing full well that you're a friggin' nut job. However, I'm The Trout, and that kind of quitter attitude doesn't help anyone, now does it?

You are not worried about other countries attacking us, or causing problems of that nature, but you are worried what other countries think of us? You are worried they think we have an inferiority complex, and so because of that we should have less of a military?

Care to point out where I said I wasn't worried about other countries attacking us? Or did you just make that part up to support your diluted scam of an opinion? To answer your other question, yes, I'm worried about what other people think of my country. As a blue blooded dumbass Republican, you would think that you would care about your country as well. I mean, let's forget the fact that the US exported over $1,553.1 Billion in 2009, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. (quick google search, too lazy to find current rate, but you can bet your *** it's still absurd), and then let's forget about the tourists that come here and spend their hard earned money. "In 2009, international visitors spent $121 billion here in the United States! Even though that’s 15 percent less than what was received in 2008, it’s still the third highest travel export earnings the U.S. has ever seen!" https://blog.trade.gov/2010/05/12/this-is-national-travel-and-tourism-week/ -- You're probably right, the USA shouldn't worry about its image or the fact that more and more international people are seeing us as a big ol' bad guy.

Wow, awesome argument and post. Pathetic is too soft of a word, but I'm a Skyline grad and can't think of anything more insulting right now.

The point is, I understood him to be saying we should have a military to defend ourselves and our country. If you don't think we have a bulls eye on us, you are kidding yourself.

Wait... you had a point? Interesting. I don't think anyone here is saying we shouldn't have a military. Nobody. No one. Not one person. Do you know why we have a bullseye on us? Because of MAD JEALOUSY? Do you think those tools in high school had a bullseye on them because the jocks and other idiots were jealous of them? No, they had bullseyes on them because they acted tough, had to have the big weenus trucks and had to puff up their chests like the dumbass fools they were. On the flip side, I think we can all look back and think about that one guy that nobody messed with, for any reason. It wasn't because he acted like a hard guy or a tough guy, it was because he didn't need to. He knew he was a hard *** and that nobody was going to mess with him, and if they did, he would beat their ***. No need to chirp or flex.

The other countries out there that you want us to be like are falling apart, and couldn't defend themselves if someone seriously went after them.

Oh... THOSE countries. Mind telling me what they were again, because I must've forgotten. Oh wait, maybe this was just you acting like your normal clueless self and putting words into my mouth in order to bolster your moronic post? Shocking, really.

Having a friend being beat up is one thing, flexing your Country-Peen and getting involved in every conflict that pops up in order to let the world know what a bad *** you are is another. If you'd like to give me some examples of what you're trying to say, then I'm all ears.

How do you spell hypocrite? No, seriously, tell me. I must know, were you just laughing your *** off when you typed this, because you knew some sucker like me would have a hay-day with it? Or are you really this lame? That's rhetorical, by the way.

No, I don't think reducing our military is going to solve our problems. I think our problems mainly lie elsewhere.

We can agree on this, at least. Reducing the military is a great start though. But you just go ahead and keep on voting for more military, more botox, bigger CZ earrings, and the biggest truck on the lot; the rest of us will keep on being apathetic losers.

Trout for Councillor, Mayor, Senator, whatever.

He does have a point if it's about Europe's generally weak defenses making their small size and racist nature prone to problems. There's a reason we've saved the continent twice, and that hasn't gone away. Europe should unify, but they're too stubborn to do it.

Trout for Councillor, Mayor, Senator, whatever.

Don't you think he should quit playing the dummy first? Besides, he'd get behind closed doors and learn all the dirty secrets about nukes that every other non-senile senator has and most likely become a "sellout" war hawk just like the rest of them. I'm prone to isolationism, but that's no excuse to turn a blind eye to the nuke issue. Hell, our resident libertarian Guruface will even tell you there were nukes in Iraq.

He'd have a point if I had ever brought that up. Unfortunately for him and his bull **** argument, I did not. I agree with you in as much as having a weak military is just as bad as having THE WORLDS MOST AMAZING KILLING MACHINE, EVAR!!!11

Playing the dummy? It took several years of straight weed smoke and St. Provo Girl to mold this mind into the incredible thinking machine it is today. Please, keep your foolishness to yourself, sir.

(you're probably right about the sell-out part though)

i wanted so bad to vote for mccain but i was too young but now i can finally vote and my dad doesnt think Romney is the right guy but hes better than Obama so Romney has my vote. Look at how bad the economy is under obama. obamacare has been a failure.

Care to point out where I said I wasn't worried about other countries attacking us? Or did you just make that part up to support your diluted scam of an opinion?
It oozes out of your pores, I can smell it on you after I filter all the crap out of your posts.
Maybe if you took the crap out of your posts you wouldn't get people "misunderstanding" what you really mean... but then again, maybe you are working on your political skills for next time?

To answer your other question, yes, I'm worried about what other people think of my country. So you're not so different than the tools you are complaining about eh?
Not republican, not that you would be able to figure that out with a Skyline certificate and all.

Wow, awesome argument and post. Pathetic is too soft of a word, but I'm a Skyline grad and can't think of anything more insulting right now.

And to think you didn't like my fishing analogy... because you are really stuck on this one.
I was really trying to come up with something worse than yours.... but I suppose I failed.
Yea, I'm sure people didnt mess with "that guy" because he stopped working out, so he could be leaner. I'm sure "that guy" didn't put any time or money into getting better.
Maybe you see supporting our military as a show, but I see it as being prepared for things to come.

Oh... THOSE countries. Mind telling me what they were again, because I must've forgotten. Oh wait, maybe this was just you acting like your normal clueless self and putting words into my mouth in order to bolster your moronic post? Shocking, really.
Hey moran. Read your original post, specifically read the article you link. Shocking really that you don't know what you are talking about, or posting links to.

I also don't think we should be involved in every conflict possible. How about this, you tell me which wars we were in you think we should have stayed out of, then I can understand where your line is.... no, not that string you have hanging out.

How do you spell hypocrite? No, seriously, tell me. I must know, were you just laughing your *** off when you typed this, because you knew some sucker like me would have a hay-day with it? Or are you really this lame? That's rhetorical, by the way.
Ok, you made your point. There are exceptions to every rule. Maybe it is better if people like you are not involved, and just mind your own business. I hope you stop caring, it might be better for us all.... well at least those in Taylorsville. oh... not rhetorical at all by the way.

We can agree on this, at least. Reducing the military is a great start though. But you just go ahead and keep on voting for more military, more botox, bigger CZ earrings, and the biggest truck on the lot; the rest of us will keep on being apathetic losers.
I believe the link you posted, and the original issue was that he talked about "maintaining" a strong military. My name may not be Mirriam Webster, but I'm pretty sure to maintain is different than "more". Congratulations on finally turning into that tool you always complain about. Almost every post of yours has you "chirping and flexing". Can you get me that definition of hypocrite, I forgot to look it up. TIA

You are not worried about other countries attacking us, or causing problems of that nature, but you are worried what other countries think of us?

If the US spent 10% of the world's total military expenditures(WTME), I would only be worried about two dozen countries making a coordinated attack. If we spent 25% of the WTME, would not even be worried about that. We actually spend close to half of the WTME. We can cut a lot of military and not come close to worrying about being attacked.
