What's new

I really don't like Romney.

I often wonder what it would be like to live in a blurry, often mesmerizing, alcoholic haze -- but then I read your posts and know. Imagine how much good you could've done for the world with that brain of yours, you know, 10 billion burned up brain cells ago. What a waste.

Diamond > Gomez, btw.

Dude, you sell insurance. You might as well be a drug dealer.

Anyone see his Iphone Ap gaffe?

In all fairness to Mr. Romney, who of any Presidential candidates other than Paul has suggested cutting our military size/defense budget? Certainly not Obama.

What President other than Clinton has closed bases and cut the defense's budget in the last 30 years?

I think the out of control defense spending has more to do with Congress "fighting" for jobs and contractors buying off the government (there is clearly a military industrial "entitlement" that is sucking our resources) than anything else. Shutting down military bases or factories in your state and laying off thousands of workers for the good of the union is basically going to destroy any chances of becoming reelected in even the most anti-government pro private sector states.

Just imagine the uproar even the most "conservative" leaders in Utah would cause if the Hill were ever shut down! A loss of thousands of jobs! Despite what these political leaders say (anti government pro private sector), they love the jobs and (federal) handouts they receive. Hence, why you'll never see Utah volunteer the Hill to be shut down or refuse federal money to build roads. Hatch and co will fight tooth and nail to keep that base operational (all while sucking millions/billions from our coffers and driving up our debt).

What would happen if Hill shuts down? YOu do know that gov. generates revenues from tax dollars. So for every program they shut down jobs are lost and if the private sector doesn't pick up those jobs we go further down the toilet bowl. So, instead of a slashing technique we need tax reform and hold those in the government to actually ask our federal employees to be productive.

ask our federal employees to be productive.

I have a veteran friend in Virginia that does IT Networking as a civilian working on base. He travels one week a month to military bases/embassies to set up networks, troubleshoot, etc. The other 3 weeks he sits in his cubicle playing mine-sweep and surfing the internet. He has virtually no traditional education but did IT training in the military. He is paid over $100,000/year for his enormous contributions to our military/government.

Ok the point is you just don't fire them find ways for them to be more productive. Or you think the economy is bad now just imagine all the hill workers competing for the same low paying jobs we are.

I basically did that for four years at an insurance company, percentage-wise. I'm unconvinced private emplo9yers are more efficient than public.

I don't have any issues with this line of thinking.

What is your problem with it?

I'm trying to figure this out myself as well. If you are getting bullied in school, hit the gym or take a boxing class. Your house gets robbed, buy a better security system. Laptop keeps getting infected with viruses, invest in some anti-virus software.

What's the problem with this line of thinking?
