Circling back to the op I think the point is, you've gotta be on some sort of mind altering substance to not be a Gobert fan if you like the Jazz.

For me, I need to become more empathetic toward addicts. I have two people in my life (bro in law and stepbrother) who have been addicts off on and for 15 years and 10 years, respectively. Both are enabled by my mother in law and stepdad/mom. Both to me, are just weak, and have never had any sort of direction, though that might not be totally fair to my bro in law.

Frankly, I’m sort of tired of the “my doctor prescribed me opioids” line that’s basically the template response for seemingly every heroin/oxy user that they keep tucked away for when the question arises.

My stepbro was always into the club scene. He’s flat out said he doesn’t want to live life like others (doesn’t have health insurance as one example)...there’s no foresight. Dudes OD’ed a couple times, been narcaned (sp?) both times, medivacked by helicopter. Insane debt. Dumbass dad and mom save his ***. No brutal talks. Wishy washy, gullible morons. Pathetic adults who buy his ****.

My bro in law has served solid time in serious clinks. 18 months here, 9 months there, like that. But he’s made more serious efforts. Goes to meetings a lot. Got to the point where he was a paid counselor down in Florida and he’d been clean for like 1.5 years. Then his buddy od’ed and died and he fell off the wagon. Been clean for a year now I think and getting some sort of degree which is good. He’s super smart unlike my dimwit stepbro.

Listen I know no one wants to be addicted to that ****. But **** man, how about never do it in the first place? Or do these idiots think all the cautionary tales about oxy are just that? Tales? Sorry, I was prescribed it after my vasectomy last year and didn’t even fill the script. Just stupid too. I popped some Advil and knew pain is temporary.

Sorry, just done with ppl making dumb decisions and then wondering why their lives are ****ed up and wanting other people to bend over backward to help them. Grow up, be a ****ing adult, and find other interests. Smoke pot instead or something. But meth heads, crack heads...sorry you’re ****ing idiots for ever trying that ****.

He talks about how addiction is not a choice someone makes but the response to emotional pain, how at the source of adiction there is a trauma. He doesn't believe that addiction is passed on genetically, but while it runs in some families it's the result of recreating the conditions in which one lived in childhood. And it's not only the problem of "losers" like we tend to think. Bottom line being: people ask an addict "what's wrong with you?" instead of "what happened to you?". I really find it interesting to listen to him.
 
Bradley's been watching Gobert. I've dissed Bradley a lot lately and in the past but I was wrong. Hopefully he can keep it rolling.
