Ingles breaks the franchise record for most 3s made in a season

Mitchell is probably going to finish the season 2nd all time too.
The way Mitchell has been shooting 3's of late (2-7 vs. Pho, 1-8 vs. Sac) he may break the record for missed 3's in a season. Or has he already?

That's my one criticism of Donovan. He takes a lot of very ill-advised 3's.

I’m almost positive he’ll get that record. And no way, Mitchell has every indication of becoming a fantastic 3 point shooter. I’m sure he’s been told to take every single open three he sees. He’ll score 30 points per game at some point, and it will be because of the 3 point shot.

He has great form and release. He's sure to improve his percentage. Not sure it will be up there with the Ingles and Korvers though because he's not a catch and shoot 3-pt shooter And yes, some of his 3-pointers could use better shot selection but at the same time he has some incredible credible makes catching and spinning in mid-air and still achieving perfect balance.

Congrats JI. Surprised he surpassed the likes of Horny but overjoyed that he did.
Hornacek got passed up a long time ago by Memo, then by Foye. His record was 104. That’s been passed by a lot of guys.

But it’s a shame he didn’t shoot more.

Joe takes way more 3's than Hornacek ever did. Horny just played in a different era and for a coach who didn't like the corner three. Even still Horny managed to shoot like 45% from 3 his last few years in Utah - and that was on one bad knee and one awful knee.

Anyway, congrats Joe - especially considering you took the record from a guy that most folks don't even remember played for The Jazz (and a few would like to forget)

He's 7th in the league for 3 attempts right now.

Can you imagine anyone on a Sloan coached team shooting threes like they were on a Snyder coached team?

Me either.

I could live with the decrease in attempts if we at least acknowledge its existence on defense.

The fact that we’re guarding the three so well is beautiful and likely a big part of our success.

Don’t criticize Donovan....ever!

Just kidding, but I don’t think this is a fair criticism. There are several times during games the shot clock is at like 2-3 seconds and guys toss Donovan the ball and he has no choice but to jack some of those 3s. I’d like to see his shooting percentage minus some of the bad shots he gets forced into taking. It’s actually a credit to him, he could get pissed about getting forced into low percentage shots but doesn’t care that it might hurt that percentage. He has a very pretty shot, and he’ll just get better and better. He can shoot any time he wants he’s earned it, I find myself several times a night upset with those strong pumpfakes he does and wish he’d pull the trigger more often.

...back on topic. Congrats to Joe, I’m happy for him. Few guys deserve to be on the top of that list like Joe. He’s everything this organization stands for, and he deserves his place in history with this franchise....who knows maybe some day #2 will hang one day. Here’s to hoping so.

Quick look says he's already taken the most 3s in a season in Jazz history. Basketball reference doesn't show missed threes readily.

Good chance at this.

Completely agree, great to see good things happening for a genuine decent person, seems like a great bloke, good family man, community minded and committed to winning and getting better every day. Good on him, hopefully he pushes the mark further out next year too. Underestimate Joe Ingles at your peril.
