What's new

Is Quin blowing it with Dante?

He probably would not have played if Hayward wasn't sick.

Probably true, but he did well enough that it might convince QS to play him at times instead of Mack. Dante is a much longer, better defender than Mack and it's not like Shelvin is tearing it up offensively so it's not much of a loss there.

Look at Kobe vs. Jazz during the 1997 playoffs. Granted, much different situation/player but I bet it made Kobe a better player to fail a bit like that. The occasional good play makes up for it development-wise. Impact on the game is a slightly different matter, of course...

This is a great point. Watching those playoffs, I would have never guessed Kobe would become as good as he did. It was brick city that series. It was a thing of beauty as a Jazz fan.

LOL @ the Kobe comparisons. Kobe was younger than Exum when he made his first all star appearance.

Has Exum not failed enough to be motivated in the off-season?

**** development right now. You play and help win or you don't. Maybe Exum can contribute, but you don't put winning on the line in hopes that whatever it is that you said that makes sense to you.

post all-star break? You mean, for the stretch of games in which Mack was injured?

You Exum fanboys are nuts. I haven't given up on the kid (far from it), but acting like he obviously belongs in this series is just dumb

RPM says Exum was marginally better than Mack over the duration of the year - and wayyyyyyy better defensively.

Mind you Neto was better than both (caveat being very small sample size - less than 400 minutes for Neto).

Minutes - especially playoff minutes - have to be earned. Exum has shown some good things this year as he returned from injury. . . but there's still a lot of room for improvement. There have been a number of games where his inexperience and poor shooting has hurt the team. If he plays. . . great. It means that Quin trusts him not to **** everything up.

Doesn't seem to apply to Mack.

Exum is a pg - who hasn't played well offensively in that position overall.
He hasn't got a sufficient run at that position overall, and has the potential to get to the line, the rim and distribute.

If the coaching stuff want to convert him into a 3D guy - Exum should be traded. Someone will give up something for him.

I guess Snyder was dumb for playing him then? You do realize he played right? You do realize he did alright and played pretty good defense on a very hot Crawford right? Also I said he was statistically better for the entire season not just post all star, so don't try and twist my words to help prove your point. It gets more in favor of Exum when you look post all star but that isn't needed. Also you can look at what Exum did post all star and it is better than anything Mack has done ever in his career.
